Good Call, Paramount!

Considering the massive amounts of holiday competition the movie would face, Paramount Pictures has decided to delay the expanded release of their film, The Lovely Bones.
The flick will now go nationwide after the holiday season on January 15th.
A smart move, we think. Such a dark flick is sure to be overlooked during the holidays.
Don't U agree?

Good decision. No dark flicks for me during the holidays.
uhhh Perez
This might have been news last friday, when it was supposed to be released.
But no actually I'd have loved to see it. Fvck christmas.
Plus it's getting universally panned.
I cant WAIT to see this movie!
Perez, we have known about this for awhile. It does not have anything to do with the films dark nature. It has to do with the fact that it is getting horrible reviews and Paramount knows they may have a stinker on their hands. The only awards buzz is going to Tucci who is sure to have played creepy Mr. Harvey excellently. I love the book but as always…looks like this is a disappointment. I'll still see it.
I heard Jackson really dropped the ball on this one. Marky Mark is supposed to be stinko. The book is weak as hell and unless you buy into The Afterlife being three degrees away from "Gidget", you're going to gag. The survivors of killed children really want this crap on a celluloid bombfire.
I love you Perez, but you're a little late with this news. Out of curiousity, I checked IMDB.com for Lovely Bones on Tuesday. And, the updated release date of Jan 15 was there.
YEAH I WOULDN'T GO SEE THIS FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON. I'D LOOK FOR SOMETHING MORE FAMILY ORIENTED. BUT TO BE HONEST I DO NOT WANT TO SEE THIS FILM AT ALL. THE PREVIEWS ALONE KINDA MAKES MY HEART ACHE.
can't wait for this movie! it looks awesome
makes sense.. looking forward to see this
this movie looks awsome
This movie is out in NYC where i live, so i saw it. It SUCKED. I was so disappointed cause the book is so great and the cast is amazing too. But the director dropped the ball by spending the majority of the film in this weird confusing CGI world that was not a big, or particularly important part of the story at all. What a waste.
I hear Peter Jackson cut a LOT from the book, important stuff. All to make room for his big CGI spectacles I'm sure.
I still want to see it, even if it is getting panned. Im actually reading the book right now, its really sad.
It's supposed to be a brilliant film.
id still see it
not a good idea! i wouldve went to see this today but instead am at home because nothing good is on
Mark Wahlberg is a terrible actor…The Happening, anyone?
I'll see a 'dark' movie anytime, but I think people would have forgotten about it being in theaters, so yes, very smart move. I don't think this is a movie to miss.
Oh I can't wait to see it, I've read the book and it has a lot of expectations to live up to! good call on delaying it though, christmas is for the happy movies
no i dont agree b/c if i want to c a xmas movie ill stay home and watch the classics. i love this book and cant wait to see the movie
I would see a "dark" film regardless of the holiday season.
Re: wholelottarosy – I think "The Happening" would have been horrible if anyone played the part, but he sucked pretty damn bad. Honestly though, who can convince people that plants are releasing toxins to protect themselves world-wide. It was just a stupid premise all around.
i wish i didnt have to wait so long to see this movie! it looks sooo good and i loved the book!!
Can't wait to see it!!!!
loved the book, the movie will be great!
Yep. I'm sure the negative reviews aren't helping any in getting this movie a decent start.
Too bad, because the book was really good .. it's disappointing coming from
Director Peter Jackson.
It seems that when a movie is made of a book that I like, it pales in comparison. Everything Stephen King was made to a bad movie for me, DaVinci code, Angels and Demons, the list goes on….
um.. maybe im psychic but me and my friend had a conversation about this movie being pushed back to the 15th, like a week or two ago
I have been waiting forever to see this movie. I absolutely loved the book and I don't think watching the movie will change how much I loved the book. I would have watched it no matter what date it was released on.
fuck avatar and sherlock homes, i wanted to see this more than them and now i have to wait.
ps perez, did you even read the book?
I love this quote by Picasso. Sounds something like that: "Art is to tell the truth"
This movie is so pretentious. And glorifying violence! You know when I was a teenager I loved this dark "artsy" shit. Now I feel responsible. I just think Peter sold himself out! why? why ? unrealistic! Its not some great movie. So stupid! Totally Incorrect! Such A waste of money! and Cocteau Twins for This? God save us all! If this movie is a a consideration for awards I am like : Hollywood lost its way and is corrupted big time. So obvious! Great acting though.
I heard its not half as good as the book.
good choice… the movie looks good
I saw a preview showing of this earlier in the week. Saiorse Ronan has grown up to be quite beautiful, and Susanne Sarandon was amazing! I can't see how this is getting bad press.
Please, I've heard Jackson butchered the film. I'm reading the book and it's a good book, but he's watered down the content considerably which makes me angry.
I don't see how in the hell this movie could be getting panned. Then again, I usually want to go see movies with bad reviews because critics generally, universally only go for "art films." Anyone who read the book can see via the trailer that the story seems true to it's roots. The story is only dark in the begining but has an amazing story of neverending, unconditional love. Read the book before you make ignorant comments. Granted, nothing blows up, their are no car chases, no one has admantium bones and no one gets naked, but it IS a human story.
Im reading the book now, and its gooooooood.
I cant WAIT to see this flick.
Boo on the release date but yay cuz I have time to finish reading it, haha.
it's not dark, you idiot. have you even read the book?
Re: thajester – Amen. People should no that of which they speak!
Re: Curious Yellow – The afterlife being "three degrees from Gidget" is because she was a child when she died; heaven was how they dreamed it. Did you say you read the book? Just curious.
I was excited for this movie until I found out they left out the crucial rape scene.
Re: Keonli – I just heard the rape scene was left out. To be honest I have mixed feelings on this. Before I knew it was I thought people would be REALLY surprised because the previews were misleading. They make it look like a dark movie, but not like a little girl getting raped and chopped into pieces. On the other hand… I wish they would stay true to the book.
i'm two thirds of the way through this book right now and i started it 3 dang weeks ago! i'm trying so hard to love this book, but can't seem to get very much into it. bummed to hear the movie is getting panned, since that it what it keeping me to continue reading.. to see the film and what peter jackson would create visually out of this. too far in to stop reading the book now and need to see if it ends with harvey finally being brought down. i'll still see the movie too, but now i'm a little less excited. let down.
well its out in some theaters in new york and i seen it at the village theater and let me tell you perez it sucked the book sucked so it was only fai that the movie would be that was a waste of my 13$ smh on the other hand avatar was great and i cant wait to see sherlock holmes
I loved the book I read in 2 days just finished it yesterday. I think the movie is going to stink after reading all of these reviews. I loved the Twilight series too but the first 2 movies sucked awfully! Acting was terrible and if I was to see the movies before reading the books I don't think that I ever would have touched them. Kind of like White Oleandar the book was great but the movie sucked. I do give this book The Lovely Bones thumbs up though
