Avatar Sequel To Come
![]()
Considering that the film is making bank and all of James Cameron's hard work has finally started to pay out off, Cameron feels comfortable talking about making a sequel to his latest flick, Avatar.
He reveals that his tale about the smurfs the inhabitants of Pandora could lead into a second film, but the second time around would have a different locale. He explains:
"The planet in Pandora's sky is called Polyphemus and it's the primary for a system of moons, just like in our solar system, Jupiter has fifty some moons and they're discovering smaller ones all of the time."
But shoving his creations onto another moon isn't really the issue. James is only interested in doing a sequel if the money is there. James continues on to explain:
"We have some story ideas for how to branch out into other moons of Polyphemus and the Alpha Centauri A solar system, but we've got to make some money with this movie first before we think about the sequel."
Well, you've made about $600 million to date. Granted, it took about half that to make the movie, but there seems to be a good chunk of $$$ to start again.
The real question is, will Cameron have the time? Didn't the first flick take you like 15 years to complete?
Will U go see a sequel?

So many stories could come out of this. The corporations could come back in 5 years nine months and 22 days (?) or the story of the other time of sadness could be told.
Keep it at this amazing level and I will see every one of them!
.
Definitely the best movie of the year! Super amazing!
BTW, seen it twice and looking forward to my 3rd time, IMAX 3D.
.
I've never been inclined to see a movie, over and over. For the record.
This movie is
so amazing.
The effects will
blow your effing mind !!
CRAP!
It's only natural.
Last thing I will say on this……..
I didn't even want to see the movie. The marketing and poster seemed lame. Still think the poster sucks but as stated before, I am glad I was dragged to see it the first time. Hmm, number 3 could be today.
oh good Dances with Smurfs 2….
can wait for the sequel
I would if the story line was good. The story line with Avator wasn't so great but the effects made it out of this world.. It's not going to win oscars for best story line or acting…
Fuck yes you fat ass I will go see the sequel, so will a bunch of others. Swallow your shitty pride, because just the other day you were saying what a bomb it was. Make up your mind dumbfuck.
I would ABSOLUTELY go see a sequel. This film was stunning and had a wonderful story line. I'm planning to see it again in IMAX the second time around. I haven't paid to see a movie twice in FOREVER. It took me about 20 minutes to become immersed in the 3D and forget I was wearing glasses. Loved it. I even got a little chocked up.
He's an asshole.
Didn't you just label the film a flop? You're such a professional guy. I wonder if you have even gone to high school.
THE TRUE GENIUS IN THIS FLICK IS GEORGE LUCAS AND HIS SPECIAL EFFECTS GROUP INDUSTRIAL LIGHT AND MAGIC. FUCK CAMERON. THE BASIC SCRIPT IS CRAP - LACKS DEPTH, EMOTIONS, AND SIMPLISTIC "SAVE THE EARTH" GREENPEACE PLOT. SOOO GEORGE, WHEN IS PART II COMING OUT?
IT DIDN'T TAKE 15 YEARS TO MAKE!! REALLY PEREZ????
HE WROTE THE SCRIPT 15 YEARS AGO BUT IT WASN'T UNTIL 2005 THAT HE STARTED TO DO PRE-PRODUCTION. HE WAITED FOR TECHNOLOGY TO CATCH UP TO HIS VISION.
hell yeah i'll go!! that movie was awesome. honestly, i thought there'd be a requel first, you know, showing how the hell they came there, and the first interaction between the two species, the backround story and all. but a sequel is even better i guess. just wish it wouldnt take them really long, they gotta use the momentum
yess definitely be going to see the sequel if it gets made! Best film Ive ever seen! xx
I'd go see a sequel in a heartbeat. Avatar was an excellent action flick, well-done in pretty much every aspect.
It didn't take 15 years to complete. Get your facts straight.
It's a cashcow, I'm sure they will do it. Which they should, the movie was fucking great.
FUCCCKK YEAAAH EVEN IF IT TAKES ANOTHER 15 YEARS!!!!
I would totally see a sequel … espcially if Sam Worthtinton is in it … human or Blue cartoon, he's still HOT!!!
Wow fair and somewhat accurate reporting on Avatar. It should be noted that as of yesterday it has made $661,284,488 in 12 days. I hate early talk of a sequel myself.
i thought this movie was a masterpiece, I would see a sequel. I hardly ever cry in movies, and yet this one made me cry just because of the beauty…
Avatar was such a delightful movie. I love it.
FYI — To the uninformed who think this movie is a cash cow…the studio has NOT made a profit on Avatar and won't see a profit until it makes over $1 billion dollars. A studio only receives approximately 35% of the box office so at this time, they are still IN THE RED.
um actually due to theater/ company split and production cost avatar actually needs to hit about 850-900 million before it sees profit so theres still a ways to go
Re: SWEETPIECE! – same here!
my mom really wanted to see it and i was basically dragged along,
and now Avatar is by far my favourite movie!
the effects are so beautiful and the story is amazing.
thank god i didn't see the damn Chipmunks movie.
i will for sure see a sequel if there is one!
Oh Yeah!! I hope this is true.
This was probably THE best movie EVER made. People who haven't seen it yet, hurry…go see it in 3D before it leaves theaters! Do NOT go and see it without 3D….that would be a total waste. Just saw it yesterday. It was truly, truly amazing! Mind blowing!
… will he live that long. Isn't that dude like 100?
I was struck in Avatar when there was mention of "The Company" and if I'm correct, wasn't the giant corporate entity in the Aliens franchise also called "The Company"? It seems to me that he could branch off in any number of direction by having opportunistic greed-driven humans explore many different worlds and make contact with any creature the human mind could imagine.
The whole possibility with using The Universe as a canvas for storytelling is that anything is truly possible in the infinite space that creation exists in. We have no idea what is really out there and people are always deliciously interested in the possibilities of what other life could be out there. People may lose interest in the Na'vi, but no matter how James Cameron behaves in his personal life, I have full faith in the man as a director and creator of films. He's been scaring and entertaining me for the entire duration of my life, he has my full faith as a moviegoer.
the story was so so… but standing applause for it's visual effect.
i think i should wait till i have grandchilds if i want to watch the 'blue-blue' sequel right?
Fuck yes I would see the sequel! Avatar was an amazing movie
Perez, your such a sore loser and a cry baby. Why don't you just admit you are wrong, the other day you said it bombed and was DOMINATED by Sherlock Holmes. Since Holmes release last Friday, Sherlock Holmes only beat Avatar last Friday, so out of 6 days of release, Holmes had a bigger box office on one day. Avatar has now made over 700 million worldwide and will continue to earn money. Perez, you deserve to be beaten, the victim of a vicious hate crime, and not because you are gay, but because you are the biggest retard on the planet!!!!
my dad just said, ready for the sequel??? YES!
Perez, why do you hate James Cameron? Sure his personality sucks but he did a great job with Avatar especially with visual effects. I say, bring on the sequel!
Yes!
yes! definitely!
okay, so set your day timer to 2021.
day timer, get it!!! ??
And the movie was shot by jar jar binks with reboot scope!
Re: Selecious – he waited for tech to catch up ?
Ya, to what, 1998?
amazing movie
while i have to say that the poster didn't really appeal to me, storyline and digital effects were completely awesome! can't wait to watch it for the 3rd time!
i've never wanted to watch a movie over and over again so many times!
