Letterman Blackmailer Uses Tiger Woods Scandal For Defense

The lawyer of David Letterman's extortionist is trying to use the Tiger Woods scandal to get his client out of going to jail.
Attorney Gerald Shargel said that Robert "Joe" Halderman was simply trying to get paid to stay quiet, just like Rachel Uchitel did. And since whore #1 didn't get punished, neither should Joe.
What? Is he serious!?
In Shargel's new bullshit claim, he writes that offering a "very marketable story" to Letterman and keeping it confidential was part of the deal. He adds: "Evidence of celebrity misdeeds has a significant fair market value… Evidence of such misdeeds is routinely suppressed through private business arrangement."
Riiiight.
We have a feeling demanding $2 million out of revenge is a lot different than whatever Gloria Allred did for her clients.
But good luck with that in court.

Yesterday morning's news.
…Perez, if you have a 'freak free' blog in the New Year, will your posts diminish by let's say, 90 percent?
TM Z reported this like 2 days ago. You are slow as fuck, so is your immigrant mom. Tell her to hop the border back to mexico
Taking notes from the Scientologists I see.
I agree with them. The only difference is that one of them is done in a "classier" manner. But it is exactly the same thing. "Give me this amount of money, and I will keep quiet."
…and if his friends jumped off a bridge, would he do it too? Maybe some deals went down with Woods, maybe not; but if so, they were pro-active and mutually agreeable. Obviously Letterman wasn't mutually agreeable. It was his choice to hang on to his money and tell the world instead, as he must not agree with the approach this fellow used. It must be illegal or he wouldn't be up on charges.
This is the the worst argument I have ever heard in my life. Just because the officials in the state Uchitel is from could not or chose not to look for anything even resembling blackmail, does not mean it applies to his case in New York.
It might be a different if she went to trial for accepting the money and was acquitted but as that is not the case, no president in the law exists and the argument is therefore moot. I can't wait to see this sick snake behind bars.
The difference is Tiger allegedly paid Rachel not to talk, this Halderman fool was DEMANDING to be paid money to keep quiet. Letterman wasn't offering him money. Nice try, though.
Re: ap076 – He maybe should have talked to Gloria first. He might not be in this position now.
DOUCEBAG Lawyer! He is really reaching with this one. The only reason he's doing this is to get HIS name in the news and piggyback off of the Tiger Woods scandal. Hey idiot Shargel, the difference is this: your client called Letterman and threatened to expose his affairs if he didn't pay HUSH MONEY to keep him quiet. Rachael Uchitel NEVER threatened Tiger in this way; she was going to tell her story, with Allred acting as her legal counsel/broker for the deal. Tiger and his people decided FROM THEIR SIDE to pay Rachael to keep her quiet. But Rachael never called & threatened Tiger the way Letterman's extortionist did.
Also, what proof does Shargel have that Rachael got anything from Tiger? Everything is ALLEGEDLY, though it does point to a payoff. But nothing has been said publicly. So how can this windbag ambulance-chaser attorney build a defense on what might possibly be rumor and innuendo?
If this fata$$ Shargel think he can win his case with this type of defense, he is crazy. And if he does, that means any celebrity can be victimized by their friends, employees and associates who want to make money by selling personal information to the highest bidder unless the celebrity pays them to keep quiet.
I don't think Lady Justice had BLACKMAIL in mind as something legal. Practically every celebrity would go broke having to pay their entourage hush money.
well he has a point! How can what the whore did not be blackmail if it's essentially the same thing?
I hope Halderman is victorious. Everyone else is being extorted and bribed!!! Why should this man be prosecuted?! Double-standard and because he's not rich and famous. HYPOCRISY!
Wonder how long it will take the judge to stop laughing when he hears that one.
