PETA Names Their Man And Woman Of The Year!
Such great and GAY choices!
PETA has chosen Ellen DeGeneres for its Woman of the Year and Tim Gunn for its Man of the Year!
In 2008, Ellen decided to go vegan and has highlighted her diet choice on her popular talk show including making vegan pizza with Wolfgang Puck and speaking with Dr. Neal Barnard about the benefits of a vegan diet.
She also has pages on her website with information about going vegan including recipes and where to shop!
As for Tim Gunn, he is notorious for his anti-fur stance in fashion saying:
"Wearing fur is like wearing a big sign reading, 'I'm in favor of inflicting cruelty and pain on animals as a fashion statement.' Unspeakable torture is inflicted on dogs, cats, bunnies, raccoons, foxes, minks, and myriad trapped, helpless creatures in the name of fashion—yes, dogs and cats."
Tim ensures fur challenges are OUT on Project Runway and there is no fur of any kind at Liz Claiborne where he is chief creative officer.

ellen i get. but TIM GUNN!!! when i was a student in parsons, he was the one who invited saga furs to work with the students. we didnt have any kind of peta design contests, yet we had fur contests. it was only AFTER he left that parsons actually had peta design contests. tim gunn's a fucking fraud, who will do and say anything to get somewhere, and he never ever offered any constructive criticism except for his "work it out" or whatever the fuck he said. and most students hated him during his reign. ugh.
Ellen is a Cover Girl spokesperson. Cosmetic industry insiders know that Proctor & Gamble (Cover Girl's parent company) tests cosmetic products on animals. PETA is aware of P&G's practices so naming Ellen Peta Woman of the Year is a paradox.

I love to wear vintage fur. I am against wearing new fur/fur farms/etc. The vintage fur animal would have died of natural causes 50 or more years ago and wearing the pelt, to me, is honoring the animal.

PETA kills animals. By the thousands.
From July 1998 through December 2008, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) killed over 21,000 dogs, cats, and other "companion animals." That's more than five defenseless creatures every day. PETA has a walk-in freezer to store the dead bodies, and contracts with a Virginia Beach company to cremate them.
Not counting the pets PETA spayed and neutered, the group put to death over 90 percent of the animals it took in during the last five years. And its angel-of-death pattern shows no sign of changing.
PETA rakes in nearly $30 million each year in income, much of it raised from pet owners who think their donations actually help animals. Instead, the group spends huge sums on programs equating people who eat chicken with Nazis, scaring young children away from drinking milk, recruiting children into the radical animal-rights lifestyle, and intimidating businessmen and their families in their own neighborhoods. PETA has also spent tens of thousands of dollars defending arsonists and other violent extremists.
PETA claims it engages in outrageous media-seeking stunts "for the animals." But which animals? Carping about the value of future two-piece dinners while administering lethal injections to puppies and kittens isn't ethical. It's hypocritical — with a death toll that PETA would protest if it weren't their own doing.

Yes, Ellen works with evil Cover Girl (who test on animals), she started that a few years ago. Hopefully she backs out of further collaberations with them. Ellen has a vegan diet, not lifestyle, as far as I know.
And as for peta killing companion animals, um…obviously peta takes in and tries to rescue THOUSANDS upon thousands of these animals, who are in horrible situations, and who are gravely ill and injured. peta does not take in random animals that people just give up to them for the heck of it. These animals are in serious and desperate trouble. The Humane Society puts animals to sleep all day long, but nobody freaks out about that. Until people learn how to treat other living things peta won't have to clean up after all the ignorant freaks out there.

congratulations to them. it's not hard to not wear fur but it is hard to go vegan. i've tried and didn't make it. i love animals and i know all the horrible stories but i have to say once in awhile i love a good burger–sorry. what about leather products–do they not use them either–i wonder?? i suppose i think that killing animals for food is one thing and killing for clothes is another–but i am foolishly fooling myself in thinking that. i really think it's great when people are vegan. i really wish i could do it. tried several times. but i will say i don't eat alot of meat–i know, i know–not good enough.
