After being cyber-assaulted on Lily Allen's MySpace blog for syndicating pictures of her at her home, which in turn ended up in OK magazine, The New York Times have extended a hand in compassion to the brooding pop tart.

"Reading Allen's post on Myspace today was the first time that I understood it from the celebrities' point of view," the Times culture editor, Sam Sifton revealed. "We are not, at least most us, the cheap skanks she describes. I would hope we get to cover her career for a long time."

Although compassionate to Allen's initial reaction, Sifton explained to reporters that it's fair and legal for the NYT to resell their photographs, but "a third party contractor, not the paper, handles the sale."

Because there was no physical record of Lily's request to keep the pictures from being published in the tabloids, the Times went about business as usual and allowed the contractor to sell the pictures.

Duh!

Always have it in writing!

Sifton does own up to the fact that the paper should have a more watchful eye to what publications their photos are being sold to. He says, "I think, personally, that the flip side of our being fierce about what we get to do, is that we don't misuse the pictures… The third party contractor didn't ask enough questions, and I think we ought to be asking where our pictures end up."

We wonder if Lils will be satisfied with the Times explanation or continue to pout about it online?

Rihanna's father, Ronald Fenty, is behind his daughter one hundred percent on her decision to reconcile with Chris Brown.

Says the battered singer's dad:

"I love my daughter with whatever road she takes. I'm behind her win or lose. I will be supportive. If that's the road she wants to choose, I'm behind her. I hope to see her soon. I talked to her after her birthday, and she told me she's OK."

Seriously???

It's charitable to stand behind your child's decisions no matter what, but it's a whole different story when those decisions are harmful to their health and well-being!!!

Adrienne Bailon - yes, of the Cheetah Girls! - has a new song on the Confessions of a Shopaholic soundtrack and, shockingly, we like it. We really like it!

Actually, we kinda fucking LOVE it!

Big Spender is the name of the song, and it's a delicious dance/pop gem. The production is top-notch and the song is instantly catchy.

It reminds us of old school Janet, you know, back when she was good!

BritBrit touched down in McComb, Mississippi, on Friday to spend time with the Spears clan in her hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana, before the Circus tour begins on Tuesday in New Orleans!

Lynne Spears came to the airport to greet Britney and Co., which included Small Fry and Tater Tot, as well as her brother and, of course, Daddy Spears.

We can't wait for the tour to begin!!!!

Leaks inside the Spears camp are telling reporters, "She looks great, she's working out three or four hours a day. Everybody's pulling for her after all she's been through."

We're pulling for you too, Brit!!

Why RiRi, why?????

Reports have confirmed that Rihanna and Chris Brown have indeed reunited at Sean "Diddy" Combs' house on Star Island in Miami.

We refuse to believe it!!!!

"It's not easy to shut off a relationship she invested so much in," close sources to the Umbrella singer say.

Of course it's not easy, but it's absolutely possible!!

Rihanna arrived via private plane from Mexico to meet with Brown a couple of days ago on the island, where Chris has been seen "smiling, riding a jet ski, and flexing his arm muscles."

Flexing his arm muscles???

We know just how strong Chris is - we (and the rest of the world) have seen the pictures!

Could Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon finally be expecting a baby soon?

Looks that way, considering that Carey and Mr. Carey were spotted leaving a medical clinic in Beverly Hills last week.

According to reports, the twosome were visiting a fertility clinic to meet with a pre-natal specialist.

A friend says "Nick and Mariah are trying anything and everything to conceive. After almost a year of trying to natural way, they visited a fertility clinic to help make their baby dream come true."

Mimi reportedly visited the Southern California Reproductive Center with Nick, which Jennifer Lopez was also said to have visited. It definitely worked out for J. Lo!

Friends say Mimi is determined to have a child before she turns 40, and since she'll be turning 39 in March, she's better hurry.

P.S. Only Mariah would go to the doctor's office in a dress like that - and have Nick wear a suit!
