Sir Patrick Stewart, the best captain in Starfleet :-)

      Good choice.

      Kewl.

      Why?
Why are most of them actors, musicians and directors? Jesus Christ choose someone who's done a life time of philanthropic work at least. They are good actors etc but come one already it means nothing anymore.

What exactly does "being knighted" really do for you? It sounds so ridiculous in 2010. Cannot believe they still do this. Very silly.

Thank you, Sir Stewart, for your support of victims of violence.

Re: obama – Well everybody knows it doesn't mean anything anymore, its just a symbol of respect for the person in question for whatever they have achieved.
Just because it's 2010 doesn't mean we have to stop old traditions . . in fact thats a stupid suggestion . . while were at it why don't we knock down all the old listed buildings and build a nice new skyscraper!

    12. 12

      Make it so.

Re: sugapiehoney – Wasn't talking about buildings, nor did I ever suggest we stop the tradition. Calm down and read my comment again. The whole knighthood thing is stupid, but that's my opinion. Stupid yourself.

    15. 15

knighthood is a joke…it's not like they dress up in armor and run around stabbing people with swords to defend the royal family's honor or anything…

I'm so glad, its been a long time coming. XD

I would have thought he had been knighted YEARS AGO!!

He is far and above the many others before him.

I've seen him on stage in NYC and on stage in Central Park and he is an outstanding actor!

    18. 18

he is an absolute fox! yummy!

      Get it Boo!!!!

Good choice - fantastic stage actor, and the best thing to have happened to the Star Trek franchise in recent years. He has the loveliest voice/enunciation - I could listen to him reciting the phone book all day long….

      There's some slim pickins

Re: Hesnotintou – It may seem that way because those are the Knighthoods that are reported on. Actors and entertainers have been elevated to the Knighthood since the early 20th century so nothing new.
Their numbers pale in comparison to those is fields such as Politics and government, Diplomacy, the Military, Business, Religion, Royalty, Science, Medicine, Humanitarianism, Sports, Education, Broadcasting, Law, Law enforcement, Finance and Exploration.

Perez brother it is not congrats pat, it's congrats Sir Patrick.

Re: obama – yup i got what you were saying, i was comparing the two thing not suggesting you had said that, I believe this is called a metaphor hun!
why is it stupid? . .last time i checked it impacts nothing on your life . . .or mine. . . or anyone elses for that matter.
It's a pat on the back to people how have done something good in their lives, like war medals. I'm sure they don't piss you off, and you go around suggesting there "stupid" . . . You do realise that it isn't given to just people in the entertainment industry, its awarded too people from every aspect of life . . . Um okay yeah i'm the stupid one . . you seem very quick to call things "stupid" that you know nothing about so i'll take it as a compliment :)

Re: KiwiSJ – I, too, am a devoted member of the Patrick Stewart Voice and Enunciation admiration society. Plus he'll be able to make a fine living voicing documentaries or doing voice overs after he's decided he's past the camera days. There aren't many better.
