Alexa Ray Joel Speaks Out!

Considering her brush with death earlier this month, Alexa Ray Joel has thanked everyone for their love and support through this difficult time and is doing pretty well considering the circumstances.

Alexa's hospitalization was due to an overdose of pills at a time of crippling depression and wants to help others who are suffering.

She wants to "help young girls with something I know a GREAT deal about: Heartbreak-Related Depression. Although it does not get much attention in our society, it is a very serious and painful condition that often gets swept under the carpet. I hope to bring this topic more to light."

Alexa is even going back to school for psychology, so she's legit!

Lots of luck!

Too bad she can't be truthful about what's causing this. Christie must have threatened to cut her off. Too late Christie, the whole world knows you're a psycho.

good for her. people are expected to get over heartbreak w/a drink, movie or few bad days of questioning, crying and talking. WRONG. It's very hard and something people don't particularly like to delve into. i think she will create a whole new resource of strength b/c of this. go girl!

She is so beautiful! I hope she finds her way and herself. Being a child of known parents can be hard, never knowing if your liked for you and always watched by the media. She should do whatever she wants to do with her life, as long as it makes HER happy.

Sounds like either major depressive episode or adjustment disorder. Diagnosing should be left to professionals. Like Perez's AXIS II (cluster B) issues…

    6. 106

      Wow…you are an ass Perez

Re: LisaRose – now what in the world has this girl ever done to make u "feel she could be president one day"? please enlighten me. if she cant deal with a hearbreak, which is something that every human being goes through, to the point of trying to kill herself (which by the way she would have done if she REALLY wanted to) then how in the world would she have the strength to deal with what a president has to deal with? sounds harsh i know but come on, its the truth.

p.s. she DOES look very pretty in that picture.

RE to # 54 - You're mean. Really. Just mean. And ugly in a profound way. Once, someone asked me why I did retaliate against someone just like you who had done something really ugly, why didn't I seek revenge. I told him that I didn't need to. My revenge was that this person woke to their abysmal lives, their fractured souls every day, and faced their hideous future in the mirror every single morning when they woke up. Their behavior was an indication of it. Anything that I could do as payback was a tiny meaningless gesture compared to what they did or said or thought themselves. They were ugly in their core and their life must be miserable. And THAT was revenge enough.

You are a model of that person.

why do all the crazies go into psychology???? just trying to figure themselves out … i guess???

    12. 112

Wow, great to see her turn her lowest moment into something positive. So many people have gone through this since the beginning of mankind, and yet we have nothing setup for people when they have a debillitating breakup. Wish her good luck and hope she raises the profile of this issue.

    13. 113

      Get better Alexa Ray!
      You are pretty and smart.

    14. 114

You what… is that a medical term Heartbreak Related Depression? What a load of nonsense.

      Who is she anyway?

    15. 115

…the mayo study was on the "broken" heart as replicating heart attack symptoms, and was used in instances were deep mourning was involved. hey, i get that romantics want to equate mourning the loss of a parent, child or significant other to the "loss" one experiences in a break-up, and it's a joke! experiencing the death of a loved one is nowhere near the same as having someone voluntarily exit your world, someone who still lives and exists somewhere else. when you mourn the death of a loved one, it's because "they" are not going to go on, physically, the split is involuntary, unfair — and, they are really, without question, gone. when you mourn a death it is all about the loss of the other, when you mourn a lost relationship, it's all about you — how your world is over. wallow if you must, and then get over it. do yourself and others a favor, recognize that this type of behavior is selfish, and that there are less fortunate people out there with real issues who could use some of that energy you're wasting…
