Redmond Ordered To 30 Days In Detention Center

He really needs to get his act together!

Redmond O'Neal
appeared in court yesterday where the judge ordered him to spend at least 30 days in the Wayside Detention Center to focus on relapse prevention. Redmond was arrested on December 29th on drug charges.

Judge Michael Tynan revealed in court that Redmond wrote him what appeared to be a 4-page letter front and back:

"I read a rather thoughtful letter. [I] wouldn't go in to the family stuff in the letter, but you [Redmond] mention pride and how proud your family, friends and girlfriend are of you and you let them down.

"You are going to stay somewhere at some point. Recovery isn't a walk in the park, you have a responsibility to yourself to stay sober, not your family."

Redmond will be back in front of the judge on February 2nd. He's facing up to six years in prison because his arrest on the 29th violates his probation terms from his last drug-related offense.

It sounds like he wants to do well, but addiction is a difficult thing to overcome and he's struggling.

We hope he can do it!

How many chances is this kid going to get? I'm sick of this spoiled selfish brat getting off easy! It's time to teach him a lesson and send him to prison!!!!!

I don't get it - why isn't he in jail already? Would the rest of us be given so many free passes?

It is not a walk in the park at all to get over drug addiction. I wish him the best and hope he does not get any prison time. That will resolve nothing. Knowing drug addiction, I expected him to fall another time or two… Very hard and very sad. Redmond has my best wishes…

I know from personal experience that recovery is very hard, but this kid seems to keep getting "get out of jail free" cards. He keeps using because he's never had a long term stay in jail/prison. It seems that may be the wake up he needs. If it were me or any regular Joes, they'd have no qualms about locking us up! Trust me, I know; been there…

Sweetie if you don't want to end up like a lot of people then you need to get right. It can happen any place and to any one. No matter how much money you have, your educational level or whatever. That poison don't care who is affected. Please get help now! Right now while you can. Find someone you trust! Most of all learn to trust yourself. Good luck!

Jesus people! Don't put him down. He's struggling for his life, right now.
I have never had a problem like this, though some people I know have. It's NOT easy. I wish him all the best at overcoming his addiction. Instead of saying stupid shit about him,why not be nice and try to understand what he's going through? The guy just lost his mom and his father is even more screwed up then he is. I hope he gets better and goes on to live a productive,drug-free life.

He can thank Ryan O'Neal for the ADDICTION gene.

AND for introducing him to drugs early and doing drugs with him since.

Great Dad. and WHO should really be in jail??

    15. 15

Since when is jail the answer to addiction? This young man has been hurting himself… not committing crimes against other people, as far as I know. But still the prisons are full of poor people who keep getting caught with dope. I just wish the healthcare and justice systems would put as much energy and money into finding reliable TREATMENTS for drug addiction, and stop making me pay my tax dollars to "punish" addicts for being addicts.

    16. 16

Hope he does well. He's young still has his whole life.

    17. 17

It's a matter of when not if they will find him dead…so sad.

    18. 18

He needs to be made to do some community service. Like picking up garbage in parks or something.
Either that or keep him in jail until he graduates with a meaningful vocation in life.

Are you sure that's not Prince Harry? Did Prince Charles and Farrah ever hook up? He looks nothing like Farrah nor Ryan. This would have made a great Maury show!
