Avatar Becomes The #2 All-Time Grossing Movie!

We gotta admit that this is impressive.
At least now it is living up to all it's hype!
Though the official count has not come in yet, sources have confirmed from the folks at 20th Century Fox that James Cameron's Avatar is likely to take the #2 spot of highest grossing movies of all time!
Its $$$ is set to surpass Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The King, which grossed $1,119,110,941 in it's release, and perhaps (but unlikely) may overtake the reigning champ of movies - James Cameron's Oscar epic, Titanic, which grossed $1,842,879,955.
But what really makes these numbers so incredible is that Avatar has been able to achieve this kind of success in under a month! It's managed to gross over a billion dollars in only 20 days!

As I said earlier today AVATAR is now the number 3 international film of all time to become #2 this weekend and though #12 domestically I expect it to leap frog over 9 films to become the #3 domestically in the next two weeks. I doubt it will surpass Titanic internationally and in the USA it will not pass Titanic and maybe not the Dark Knight though anything is possible.

The blue people were annoying, but the 3D is truly amazing. It's the technology of the future. Unfortunately, the movie is 2 hours and 46 minutes, which is about 2 hours too long. I smoked up before the movie to make the experience more visibly enjoyable, and it helped. Enjoy!

i am very proud to say that i go to the same high school as James Cameron. Our theatre is named after him, not to many great things have come out of Niagara Falls but he has.
I also find it amusing that the top 2 most grossing movies were made by the same director, which is quite an accomplishment

Perez this is a must see movie. I Didn't have any interest in this movie at all, but my hubby begged me to go. I did and came away a huge fan. It is a movie with many facets, it is a thought provoking, beautiful movie. I can hardly wait for the DVD to come out now.
It was an astoundingly beautiful movie to watch. The plot was kind of typical of what you see in movies but the acting was great and the visual effects were incredible. I've seen it three times and would go see it again.

If it surpasses Titanic that will be funny. I saw this movie in 3d and the special effects/visuals were awesome, but I thought the actual movie was just alright. Way too corny at times and not really an original story. Titanic is def. better.
