Bye Bye, BBC!

After 13 years on the air, the BBC's highest-paid star, Jonathan Ross, is quitting.

The host of shows like his own BBC1 chatshow, Radio 2 show and a film review program broke the news this morning. In a recently released statement, Jonathan said he decided "not to renegotiate" his BBC contract, but insists that the change was motivated by "other considerations" more than $$$.

Why are we having trouble believing that?

It must be the truth though, since nowhere else he goes is going to pay him the same kind of $$$ he's gotten at the BBC.

Good luck to you, Jon boy!

I'm going to miss Friday Night with Jonathon Ross! Bye, Wossy :(

  2. 2

I'm in the USA and watch him on BBC America- Love him!! Wishing him the best

  3. 3

the bbc restricts his humour like when he was banned for 3 months. I reckon channel4 could possibly pay him quite a bit or he could move into doing acting or writing or something, he wont just retire and never be seen again.

  4. 4

I love his show!!!! Wossy!!! No!

  5. 5

i thought that was joe francis at first…….sorry dude!!

  6. 6

his show is the best show in the uk!!!! bye! :(

  7. 7

eejit - bbc were going to give him a pay cut, as they have with the majority of their previously ridiculously paid staff. thats what he means by "it's not about money". don't report on the news if you don't understand it.

The BBC have gone politically correct mad and can no longer cope with risque jokes. Bit annoying seeing as my tv licence fee shall no longer be going to something I actually watch.

  9. 9

he was still offered 3 million for one show a week, IT WOULDNT HAVE BEEN ABOUT MONEY. but sad cause i love that show. and he hasnt managed to get mariah carey on there yet grr

  10. 10

he didn't deserve the money he was getting anyway…

  11. 11

after all that drama about him keeping his job over sachsgate and two years on he quits anyway? he should join russell on channel4 where you can say what you like but i will miss friday night

  12. 12

The "other considerations" are the fact that the BBC is unlikely to renew his contract because he's damaged goods.

  13. 13

OMG hes leaving :-( stupid BBC kepted on holding him back

  14. 14

What?! no! Friday nights won't be the same :(

  15. 15

    Good riddance, you talentless wanker!

  16. 16

Maybe it wasn't for more $$$$, perhaps he couldn't stand certain co-workers or superiors. Maybe there were some corporate changes that pi**ed him off.

  17. 17

NO!!!! I love Jonathan Ross, friday night with jonathan Ross is a great show!

  18. 18

NO!!! i love friday night with Jonathan Ross

awww I'm going to miss The Jonathan oss Show - his interviews with Sarah Michelle Gellar, Miley Cyrus and Denzl Washington were awesome!

  20. 20

Oh i will weally weally miss him. he SUCKS!!!!! maybe they can replace him with someone who can pronounce "r"s

  21. 21

Nooooooo. ♥ Wossy. the only thing worth my tv license :( I hope this isn't the end of friday night and he moves somewhere else - the bcc are Pc MAD.

  22. 22

YES! He's finally leaving! I'm really happy. I always thought it was unfair that we had to pay our license fee to watch a douce like him act smarmy around celebs. I'm excited to think about what they could do with all those extra £££, maybe get some decent programs on?

  23. 23

*sob* No! I love Jonathan Ross. He has had a shit year, so maybe he DOES just want a break.

btw, to everyone saying it's because he's too risque- go and watch Mock the Week on BBC2.

  24. 24

No wonder he is leaving - since the Russell Brand voicemail scandal - he has been censored totally on his show, it was like he was watching his every word as he got such a bollocking from the BBC - he is dead right to quit and move to channel 4 where he will be allowed be himself again
