Chipmunk Mania!

alvin-and-the-chipmunks2_e.jpg

Everyone's loving those high pitched voices!

In just two weeks the Alvin and the Chipmunk sequel squeakquel has grossed $265 million worldwide!

The flick will EASILY hit if not pass the $350 million that the original film raked in. It's also rumored the studio may be gunning for a third installment.

Wonder what play on words they'll come up for that one?

And the movie isn't the only thing that's doing well.

The soundtrack in a Top 10 hit on the Billboard album charts.

Congrats!

And to think that this was Fox's back-up plan if Avatar failed.
(AVATAR is now the number 3 international film of all time to become #2 this weekend and though #12 domestically I expect it to leap frog over 9 films to become the #3 domestically in the next two weeks. I doubt it will surpass Titanic internationally and in the USA will not pass Titanic and maybe not the Dark Knight. Anything is possible though.)
Back to the Chipmunk.s Because their gross is 2 x more domestic than foreign (the opposite is usually the case) they are likely to settle out in the 300+ million range rather than reach the heights of the most recent Ice Age (800+ million) and Up (700 million+).
Films with more a domestic gross than international usually finish futher down the line like Cloudy…(200+million) and Princess/Frog (100 million+).
I am happy for Jason Lee successful again since NBC cancelled Earl.

An actor in this movie is a member of the Cult of Scientology!

This cult was started in the 1950s by a science fiction writer named L. Ron Hubbard, a pathological liar and a fraud consumed by greed and paranoia, in fulfilment to his declared aim to start a religion to make money.

This is a vicious and dangerous cult that masquerades as a religion. Its purpose is to make money. It practices a variety of mind-control techniques on people lured into its midst to gain control over their money and their lives. Its aim is to take from them every penny that they have and can ever borrow and to also enslave them to further its wicked ends.

It is a confused concoction of crackpot, dangerously applied psychotherapy, oversimplified, idiotic and inapplicable rules and ideas and science-fiction drivel that is presented to its members (at the "advanced" levels) as profound spiritual truth.

Watching this movie means that part of your money will fund the illegal and abusive activities of the cult. Search the web for more information.

Maybe musicians are going to start using Chipmunk vocals.

Good for Jason Lee. It's hard to breakout in such a crowded field of actors, but my little boy adores the first "Alvin" movie (we haven't seen the "squeakquel" yet). Mr. Lee seems like a nice guy, and I'm happy for his success.

I'm guessing "Alvin and the Chipmunks 3-D"

Those girl chimpmunks are so cute.

    17. 17

i was dragged to it by my niece and nephew, unfortunately. i have to admit it didn't suck as much as the first one (again dragged by the kids). it was a cute overload and drove me kinda insane. an adult can only listen to those voices for so long before they want to die.

    18. 18

They're cute! I'll wait till its on cable though.

    19. 19

I'm taking my 6 year old son to see it this weekend…I really hope it doesn't suck
