Miley Cyrus received her first ever tattoo last month, and while sitting down with Harper's Bazaar, Cyrus went into depth about her new ink.
The tat, which reads "Just Breathe," is in her mother's handwriting and in honor of Miley's close friend who passed away from cystic fibrosis in 2007 as well as both of her grandfathers, who passed away from lung cancer.
"It reminds me not to take things for granted, I mean, breathing—that was something none of them could do, the most basic thing," said Miley. "And I put it near my heart because that is where they will always be."
We're on board with that tat more than we are with permanently scrawling Marilyn Monroe quotes all over your body!

Thats beautiful and well thought out. She also put it in a place that was easy to conceal which is smart.

By the way,the things she said in that interview are really interesting,you can see by reading it that she matured a lot.
good for her….it has meaning and inspiration to her and it is a fine tribute to those who were close to her. It is in a place that can be easily concealed and not flashy and in your face. Very classy and sweet….which is more than you can say for some of the dumb idiot celebs who put the most god-awful ugly ass tattoos all over their bodies like Wino and Rihanna and Angelina, etc. I am liking her more and more…..

BabyJokerSisterz - What is wrong with the location of the tattoo? She put it in a place that would be easy to conceal if she isn't in a bathing suit. How horrendous and ugly. Also, sometimes, people don't get the tattoos because they are "cute". Most people get tattoos because they mean something to them - at least she isn't just trying to be trendy and trying to be an individual.

Also, I am not cheering for a Disney star - I am defending a person's right to get a meaningful tattoo and not be trashed for it. I could give two shits less about her, the tattoo has a wonderful meaning, is in a good place and doesn't look trashy so good for her for getting a tattoo with an actual meaning as opposed to those who get tattoos just to be trendy (like religious symbols when they don't know the meaning etc.).

i don't care what anyone else says, this is a great tattoo. my boyfriend has cystic fibrosis and while he isn't as unfortunate as other who have it, it does scare me. i'm not a huge miley fan but i definitely give her props for this.

It's also illegal in most states fro minors to get a tat.

Actually, Lindsay had that tattoo long before Miley. She has "Breathe" in white ink on her wrist. So Miley is a copy-cat. And as I recall, Miley's "reasoning" behind it is nearly word-for-word the same exact reasoning/meaning Lindsay had behind hers. Innnerestinggg!
