As rumors circulated that The Jay Leno Show was being cancelled, NBC released a statement to refuting those claims as they are planning to keep the fledgling show on the air.

The network states:

“Jay Leno is one of the most compelling entertainers in the world today. As we have said all along, Jay’s show has performed exactly as we anticipated on the network. It has, however, presented some issues for our affiliates. Both Jay and the show are committed to working closely with them to find ways to improve the performance.”

So, did they anticipate having to improve its performance?! Put that show out of its misery!

I'm glad they're sticking with it. What bullshit to say "put it out of its misery"! I loved The Tonight Show with Jay, and I like what is basically the same show at 10:00. Conan O'Brien is lame. The biggest mistake NBC made was handing the reigns of that show to O'Brien.

You would hope that after almost 20 years NBC would show Jay a little loyalty and let him try to find his footing in his new time slot.

They need to cancel Conan and put Leno back on the Tonight Show!

Combined the affiliates have much more power than the network. Frankly they could not cancel the show if they wanted to due to lack of programming ready to put on.
How many shows are in development this summer will tell lots. I think it is likely he will be cancelled by the end of summer.

Leno isn't funny now or anytime!

Leno's show is pathetic. Totally unfunny. I have yet to laugh out loud at anything in his monologue. Thank god for the fast forward button.

Leno sucks. And so does NBC.

Their 'King' has no clothes on…and no one is going to 'man up' and admit it.

To hell with all the prime time shows they ruined and that the evening news is getting stomped on with no lead in now.

Leno and Conan both suck. NBC could do better.
