Considering that she is only 1 of many actors/actresses in this movie, the blame cannot all be put upon her. I think she's ok as an actress, but I think the biggest problem are the movies that she chooses to make. I personally don't think there is any actor/actress out there worth the ungodly amount of money that they pay them to be in the movie. So….wrong on this one P. Not all her fault.
Not sure that one can blame Nicole Kidman for this films failure at the box office. It was horrible all over the place.

Never could understand why she became so big, salary-wise, as an actress, unless it was the influence of her first husband Tom Cruise … She wasn't ever that good, or watchable, or sexy, or, well, anything, really. Was she ever really a big box office draw in her own right? And since she has started botoxing/filling/whatever it is her massive forehead, she just looks plain weird - I actually find her distinctly odd to look at. Her face is frozen, she rarely smiles, she wears the same expression all the time and the lack of wrinkles or any form of character in her face make her look alien, odd, artificial. Yuck.

Perez, you are SO wrong. Nicole can hardly be blamed for Nine. Nine belongs to Rob Marshall. Period. Nine was a disaster so complete only the director can own it. And really. I heard and SAW a lot more of Kate Hudson connected to Nine than almost anyone else. So maybe she is poison!I'm not a huge Nicole fan. I find her kind of boring. But Nine is not her fault.
It is sad that Nine flopped. It is actually a beautiful movie. While a little drawn out in parts, I thought it was a fun movie to watch. I am not a Nikki Kidman fan but she was good in it. Marion Coittard and Penelope Cruz steal the show in the beauty departments though.

It's kind of hard to blame Nicole Kidman on this one. Nine released at the same time as the biggest-grossing movie of the year. It's not hard to be overlooked in this kind of situation. 'What do we go watch tonight dear? The mind-blowing 3d movies with a gigantic budget made by a consistent sci-fi director or Penelope Cruz singing and dancing?'
Nicole needs to choose better movies with better scripts.

To be fair, Nine is going up against a lot of other big blockbluster movies (Avatar for example). So I'm not surprised that it's doing poorly. Now, in regards to the other films she's done which have been "bombs" I don't blame her, rather the marketing teams/promoters plus some controversy from religious fanatics (golden compass). "Margot at the Wedding" I believe had a limited release. At least in my city it was shown in one one theatre which usually gets the limited released films. I don't think I even remember hearing about "Fur" so that just tells you how well promoted it was. The same goes for "Australia", I saw maybe a few trailers but nothing that made me go "WOW! I wanna see that!"
I agree she should lay off the botox she is going to regret it and yea everyone is getting sick of seeing this skeleton. Eat a cheeseburger once and awhile and it will make you look younger, too skinny looks well old and reminder of death lurking around the corner.

The blame is not to be put on her! She is not even in the movie that long. Every actor has box office flops and hits on there resume. I'd say it's the studio's fault Nine is not making money. This musical just didn't appeal to people. Most people had never heard of it.

Moron… lower than expected sales probably have NOTHING to do with her. She is a relatively minor character and doesnt show up until much later in the film. It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea. Amazing production, but the story is dark, it's not meant to be a blockbuster. Why dont you go see the actual movie for once before spouting off shit?

You are totally off base with Nicole Kidman. (Oscar winner!) She is actually really talented (think Cold Mountain, The Hours, Dead Calm, To Die For, Portrait of a Lady) Her choice of films is what may be off. And it's stupid to blame her for a film that has an ensemble cast.

$15m isn't too bad. It's only been out about 2 weeks. Not all movie success is about the opening weekend you know. Well except in your teen movie world.
"Australia" was a great movie, it was a bit too long… but, Nicole did an admirable job in it.

I haven't seen Nine, but the other movies such as Margot and Fur were good movies. I think she likes to pick roles that are sort of "off", and she does really well at them. However, I would put the blame on audiences wanting to see their big stars in generic roles and not willing to open up a little.
I think Nicole Kidman is an amazing actress. It's strange how some people have such negative views on her. Jealously is a terrible thing.

This movie did poorly because it has a very narrow group of viewers it's targeting. The marketing was not targeted enough. I barely found out about it after the 5th time I saw the trailer. Originally they only had Kate Hudson on the trailer and then finally, we saw the actual story. I think they could have really made more money with a better marketing plan. Whether or not it was oscar worthy sometimes has little to do with how much money it makes. It looked like a typical vehicle for a train of industry egos.
I just watched Australia last night and loved it. I haven't liked all Nicole's vehicles, but nor have I liked all of any other actor's movies.
Nine is bombing at the box-office because it's a terrible movie, not because of Nicole, who gives a great performance even though she has one of the smaller roles. They actually all give relatively good performances, but the movie is shit. Has nothing to do with Nicole. Fur was a great movie but still bombed because it wasnt your traditional box-office type, which is the kind of movie she finds attractive. Some actors arent in it for the records, but the stories. She's actually a greatly emotional actress, despite the copious amounts of botox.

Nicole is also known as an award winning actress, she has proven herself in the worldwide box office receipts and the award giving bodies
She is also an artist; and artist don't just focus on getting money they focus on their craft, how they love what they are doing. Nicole give her all when she acts just to justify her roles. She is simply one of the best actresses of our generation.

The failure of "Nine" is hardly Nicole Kidman's fault - she is just one of many acresses with small roles in the film. The problem is that it is just a horribly produced film, period. Blame Rob Marshall, not Nicole Kidman.

She wasn't even in the movie that much. The reason it is bad is the script and the way the movie was put together. It was boring, but it definitely wasn't because of her. All of the actors did well.

I don't think the failure of NINE is Ms. Kidman's fault. The adaptation was weak and the musical numbers were disconnected from the plot. But most of all I will venture that the most toxic element surrounding NINE is the fact that it is not a universally well known property like CHICAGO or MAMA MIA!. That, coupled with the other blockbuster's and critically acclaimed films surrounding its release mark it as either uninteresting or overlooked.
I don't care for Ms. Kidman but she's only in the film for (being generous here) twenty minutes, and she is actually rather good; so I doubt she's the reason its tanking.

Actually 'Australia' is the second ighest grossing film in Australia. Moulin Rouge also did well in Australia and other countries. Did you ever consider the film flopped because no one wants to see Fergie acting, or maybe Kate Hudson who has had more flop than hits.
Nicole Kidman is the best actress in the world in film. Here's why: her maverick choices of movies and her performances in them single out her talent. Her acting skill in film is also singularly unique. She does not bring any preciousness to her roles (unlike the other most famous actress on the planet), no practiced pauses; each role seems to be an unstudied delivery of genuine talent. The best in the business. I think her personal coolness and her devotion to appearance are what turns off people.
She does a lot of indie and smallish films. She does not seem at all to be in it for the money. Never has.

Bomb? Really? My husband and I tried to see it twice at a very LARGE theatre and both times couldn't find a seat. Third time was the charm, and I know how totally high-schoolish you are about her (though everyone in Hollywood says she's amazing to work with), so you will NEVER say anything good about her. You make fun of her Botox, etc., completely negating the fact that you just earlier PRAISED how well Cher looked with help from Botox. Also, her part in the movie was, maybe 10 minutes.
