Starbucks Corp. released a line of coffee mugs that displayed pre-Hispanic images and Mexico is pissed!
The images of the Aztec calendar stone and the Pyramid of the Moon from the pre-Aztec ruins of Teotihuacan are believed to be owned by Mexico, as they have intellectual property rights.
On Wednesday, Mexico's government archaeological agency stated that they would decide within a week whether Starbucks should pay any fees. Although Starbucks claims that they made several efforts to offer payment and get the necessary permits.
The mugs have been taken off the shelves until this matter is resolved.

I´m Mexican and I bought my coffee sets at Palacio de Hierro or Liverpool (for the MX house) and I got other sets in my US house, from Williams-Sonoma, Bloomingdale's and Target. Of course, some friends have given me Starbucks mugs as presents, but those are stored away…they never combine with anything.

Yes, but those exist in the US as well. Every country has it's beautiful and not-so-beautiful areas. The ones "swimming" over here (as you put it) do it because they have no other choice. Many die trying to swim over to the US … If your family was starving, wouldn't you do the same? If their home country had the resources that the US has, they would obviously not come to the US. Mexico is a label that was applied by the Spaniards to name the lands of many different indigenous American tribes that they had stolen. Before the Americas were "discovered" there were borders distinguished by different tribes….it was the Europeans that created the maps and gave these new territories new borders and names. IMO if the US can send 6 billion a year to Israel to help them defend lands that were taken from the Palestinians and given to the Jews, then its a damn shame that the US government will not honor contracts signed with Native American Tribes for the use of their lands. If you have ever been to a Reservation you would see how 6 billion a year could go a long way into restoring the pride and cultures of these native people that have been displaced by so many of you foreign blooded people.
