His flicks have taken the top two spots of the highest grossing films of all time. Now, James Cameron is looking ahead to nab the #3 spot.
James has optioned Charles Pelleginro's upcoming book, The Last Train From Hiroshima: The Survivors Look Back. After visiting Japan during his Avatar promo tour and meeting the last living survivor of the Hiroshima blast (who sadly died just this past Monday), James was inspired to look into Charles' book and start work a flick.
Maybe it'll be like Titanic - with a big bang finish.

The person who died this week was actually the only known survivor of BOTH the atomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. There are still several living survivors of the bombings. I actually met a woman (who was 12 years old at the time) who survived Hiroshima. It was the single most humbling and moving experience of my life. She actually thanked us for listening to her story. Hiroshima was an incredible place to visit. It truly puts things in perspective. I hope James Cameron does justice to the survivors' stories.

The last living survivor of the Titanic died in a nursing home after having to sell off her Titanic related belongings to pay for her own care. When her plight hit the news Kate & Leo donated a few measley thousand bucks. HELLO, Mr. Cameron, where were you? Now he wants to make a film of the suffering of the Hiroshima survivors. Lovely.

Ok i have one thing to say about this…although it is impressive how well Avatar did (seeing as it was pretty much just pocahontas in the sky with little blue people with yes some amazing graphics). What i think people are missing about the numbers is the fact that when comparing Avatars numbers to say Lord of the Rings you have to also consider what ticket prices were when Lord of the Rings came out. Its not like they make up some base ticket number to go off of. Therefore of course the numbers will be so much better than a top selling movie that came out 8 or 10 years ago. Although it just goes to show how amazingly profitable Titanic was seeing as it still holds the top spot. Back then tickets were like $5.00!!

As you say, with all his money, I suggest he gets his nose fixed, shortened, made smaller. Having bigger lips wouldn't hurt either. If the girls do it, why not the boys too ? That was one of the most disgusting things the USA ever did… (besides Agent Orange, Vietnam in general, Iraq, slavery, Native Americans, Guantanamo etc.). There is already a movie looking back on the two atomic bombs. Its called 'white light, black rain'. It is very moving and looks at both sides of the world at that time, America and Japan. People should have to watch this movie.
