Sad news for our Vice President.

Catherine Eugenia "Jean" Finnegan Biden, mother to Vice President Joe Biden, passed away at the age of 92 on Friday.

Biden was surrounded by friends and family at her home in Wilmington, Delaware at the time of her passing.

Vice President Biden released a statement through the White House on Friday, honoring the memory of his late mother.

Writes the VP:

My mother, Catherine Eugenia “Jean” Finnegan Biden, passed away peacefully today at our home in Wilmington, Delaware, surrounded by her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and many loved ones. At 92, she was the center of our family and taught all of her children that family is to be treasured, loyalty is paramount and faith will guide you through the tough times. She believed in us, and because of that, we believed in ourselves. Together with my father, her husband of 61 years who passed away in 2002, we learned the dignity of hard work and that you are defined by your sense of honor. Her strength, which was immeasurable, will live on in all of us.

late news again…. when I can see it on Yahoo first, there's no point in coming here and wading through the lady caca nonsense to find something interesting.

Oh, no! You're in my Irish Catholic family's heart, Mr. Biden. We love you so.

So sad. Wonderful that she lived such a long life and got to see her son become the man he did. My heart goes out to their family.

Why put in a geezer is a Chanel suit? That's like wrapping a turd in a Harry Winston box.

I remember having doubts about Joe Biden. Thinking he looks good but maybe he might be a little slippery. But when I heard his mother speak I thought if he has what she's got then he's my man. This woman is endearing, intelligent and instantly gets attention in a good way. What a class act. On a more superficial level….a good example of how beautiful women are when they age naturally. What a great post. Luv it.
      What a matriarch. Unreplaceable.

Re: gravytoot – A Harry Winston box is the perfect place for turds like you.
Or rub yourself in Preparation H and disappear.

    15. 15

I think that it is great that she got to see her son as Vice President.

    16. 16

At first I thought that was Bob Barker with a contestant. …

I need to stop going on caffeine binges.

92 is quite the accomplishment. I hope my loved ones live to 92. Sympathies to the Biden family.

    18. 18

They're a nice family. It's tough to lost your mom at any age. Perez, it was extremely classy of you to mention Mrs. Biden in your blog.

      who cares?

and what an ugly orange suit!

People who die with great-grandchildren have lived too long; the planet isn't big enough. Don't be selfish.

I live here in Delaware less then 10 minutes from the Biden's. This is very sad news for us. But, I agree with some of you she did live a nice long wonderful life. Thank GOD she lived long enough to see the many good accomplishments of her children. Especially, Uncle Joe (that is what some us call him), become VP of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. RIP and be with GOD.

Re: contrarianchick – What do you suggest some version of Logan's Run where people are just killed at an arbitrary age?
The average life span increases and there will always be those above average.
We should cherish the wisdom they have to offer and the living history they represent.

Re: contrarianchick – You could take all of the people on the planet and give them each 3500 square feet and they would all fit into Alaska with miles and miles to spare. More than 97% of the land surface on Earth is empty. That's the truth. Overpopulation is a myth.

RIP Mrs. Biden. I loved watching you throughout the election and the obvious joy and love you show to your family. Thank you for all that you taught them and may you be in peace and reunited with your beloved husband.
