Vote On Prop 8 Was "Corrupted?"

This could change things!

A new study by the Election Defense Alliance is reporting that the vote on Prop 8 back in November 2008 was "possibly corrupted."

Apparently there was a huge discrepancy between the exits polls and official results at 19 precincts in Los Angeles County that ultimately voted in favor of the gay marriage ban. EDA co-founders Sally Castleman and Jonathan Simon explain on their website:

"Deviations between exit polls and official results far outside margins of error cannot be explained away by demographics or polling factors. The facts established in these reports cannot responsibly be dismissed or evaded.

"It is beyond the scope of this study to know if any corruption was due to honest error or intentional fraud. Further investigation is warranted."

Investigate away!

      ya think?

    2. 2

I really hope it does change things

    3. 3

I hope this is over turned! I dont see why people dont want others to be treated equal. People are stupid and way to concerned with others.

    4. 4

GOD I hope this is true!!

    5. 5

Who cares. Move on, this prop 8 thing is old.

    6. 6

worked that way in the presidential election too - could it have been ACORN and their dead, fictitious and illegally registered voters?? Where was your outrage on that???

    7. 7

Seriously. Who cares, unless you are gay. You do not need "Marriage" when there is domestic partner laws. You get everything but the word "Marriage".

    8. 8

I was against prop 8 but this means nothing and wont prove anything. People have the right to lie to pollsters and that is why most exit polling is not reliable. Just look at the 2004 Pres election when they released the exit polling that showed Kerry beating Bush. The exit polls were wrong. They usually are. For me, this doesn't prove at all the election was rigged or corrupt. People just didn't want pollsters to know they voted for Prop 8 and they just lied. Sorry guys it will not change anything. Exiting polling not matching actual voting has no legal standing to prove fraud.

    9. 9

I think that Prop 8 was confusing. A lot of people I know said that they voted yes on 8- because they thought a yes vote allowed gay marriage. I really think it should be voted on again and should really have a better explanation so that it's clear what people are voting for.

    10. 10

OMG—I pray that they investigate this further. It would really change so much for all those who lost their marriage rights. I am crossing my fingers.

    11. 11

It's only a matter of time before gay marriage is legal. Suck on that, haters.

    12. 12

      Legal righst for everyone.

    13. 13

      such a no brainer.

    14. 14

A lot of people won't tell an exit-poller they voted against the gay-marriage bill.

They'd lie to the pollster, to avoid conflict.

    15. 15

      charles in charge

    16. 16

The reason for the discrepancy was that a lot of the people who voted for Prop. 8 felt that they needed to give the PC answer when polled, even if it was counter to the way they actually voted. It is simple to see, no need for any alliance to try and create a conspiracy where there isn't one.

    17. Larie says – reply to this

      17

Well, no matter what your opinion is, if an independent party suspects anything, it's only fair to investigate.

    18. 18

Its not exactly a secret that if a organization is looking for problems with something.. like in this case the past election… they are usually going to find it, no matter if its there or not. This isn't news at all unless it comes from a reputable and non partisan source, otherwise its just poop.

    19. 19

Obviously, enough people care that human rights shouldn't be voted on. It's only a matter of time… only a matter of time until gays can marry just like every other idiot in this country. And yeah, then I'll say SUCK IT religious zealots!

    20. Airia says – reply to this

      20

      FUCK YES ON GAY MARRIAGE!

Screw Prop 8. Love is love is love.

    21. 21

      Reaching….

    22. 22

A lot of people probably pretended to be for gay marriage but really voted against it. Trying to avoid confrontation…

    23. 23

I have never in my life heard such a bunch of whiney ass cry babies… make a legal union with all the same rights as a "marriage" and call it something else. Marriage is defined as being between a man and woman…period! Don't straight people have their rights to their traditions too? What the hell is everyone trying to prove? Just like the girl who sued for not being allowed to join the boy scouts years ago… so stinking pathetic! We don't care if you have your rights… but is it OK for us to retain the things we've cared about too????? Where the hell is the common sense???!!!

    24. 24

The fact that any of these tax breaks and property laws are based on sex of any kind is stupid! Why can't sisters sharing a ahousehold get the tax breaks and health insurance and other benefits? Only if you promise to have sex with someone until you die….

    25. 25

Re: sesela – shut the fuck up you homophobic bitch

    26. 26

Basically all my republican religious friends can say is- they don't want to be persecuted for their beliefs. And they vote silently to defend their "institution and their beliefs" and don't want to be harassed for their beliefs. Uhm… hypocrisy what???

    27. 27

prop 8 was a travesty… but exit polling is total crap. asking certain people to tell you how they voted is not science. the only "poll" that counts is in the voting booth. are these folks saying that the same voting machines that elected barack were rigged ?? now THAT would be an interesting story, but i highly doubt that they want to pursue that line of inquiry.

    28. 28

I do think a lot of it was confusion about the "yes" or "no" on Prop 8. A lot of people I know thought they were voting "yes" to gay marriage, not "yes" to making it illegal.

    29. 29

I want to get in on the ground floor here and be ready for all the gay divorces that will be following all the gay weddings….I wanna be a gay divorce attorney…but that sounds so gay….well then again it is….

    30. 30

THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN–THEY THINK GAYS ARE DISGUSTING.GET OVER IT, BUTT PIRATES

    31. 31

Re: Darkoz – NO YOU MORON. MOST PEOPLE ARE DECENT AND THINK BEING GAY IS DISGUSTING AND VILE

    32. 32

      What are you smoking?

    33. 33

The people have spoken. It is silly to keep on about it and keep trying to brainwash people. One day maybe pedophiles will brainwash everyone and make them think it is ok to have sex with little kids let alone the same sex little kids. It is all simply ridiculous.

    34. 34

It isn't going to change shit, fatass!! Prove that it was corrupted! Exit polls don't mean shit and are not scientific. It's all about how the public voted. You all need to put together a better campaign than you did last time around and go for the vote again. Leave the schools out of it, which is the reason why I voted YES. When they took money from the teachers union and used millions of dollars of it on an ad, that turned my stomach considering how the schools were suffering. My daughter's school begged parents to donate simple shit like copy paper, dry erase markers, etc. Fuck that!!!

    35. 35

Re: Ohiogirl – You said it!!!! It's only outrage when it works for the people bitching!

    36. 36

Re: Darkoz – BULLSHIT!!!! If you lived in the state of CA during the election time how in the hell could you be confused, seriously?! Every other fucking commercial on tv was about Prop 8. That is just a bullshit excuse. The campaign on both sides of Prop 8, mainly NO on 8, sucked. Their arguments were lame and even before the election when teachers started doing shit like have freaking kindergarteners sign petitions that they will be tolerant of homosexual kids, fuck no! It's no wonder the NO on 8 people lost.

    37. 37

Re: Birdonawire – you are right. People were probably on cameras/news and did not want to come across as biased. besides, those exit polls DO NOT SPEAK TO EVERYONE, JUST A %. It failed Mario, we have enough government overspending and waste-how is an investigastion going to prove anything? A vote is private and those votes are long destroyed. If you feel so strongly about it, get it up for the vote again. Even if there were some problems in the last vote, it will not change the results, but will give your state an every bigger deficit with an overblown investigation by an allegation by something that isn't 100% accurate.

    38. 38

Re: el polacko – No, with ACORN, hundreds of thousands of people that did not exist, maybe even a million, were registered to vote.(remember the big push to get people registered to vote?) Tremendous fraud in many states. The question has been whether in some states whether 'non existent' people actually voted (people voting 2, 3 10, 20 times under different names, different polling places). Does a new voter get checked for ID? other than the sig matching? That is the voter fraud that has been put out.

    39. 39

on a complete different note sliimy is number 93 on the most annoying list in the UK

    40. 40

Re: h8terboi – No, you're the one who is distgusting and vile, you douche.

    41. 41

I voted yes on Prop 8 but everyone thought I was going to vote no. I found it made life much easier that way. That is the explanation pure and simple. People have the right to vote however they want. What is the big deal about this exit poll? Exactly what is hoped to accomplish if it is found out people lied? And if there is another vote I will vote the exact same way. In fact now more that ever. I can't stand anyone telling me how to use MY VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!

    42. 42

Makes no sense to lie to a on-biased polling person outside the gate. I never have and they are well trained to not let their personal ideals muck with this stuff. If someone wants to by-pass them, they can. Give it up. Marriage is what it is and why can't someone be married? How does that affect my marriage? Um, not at all. We're supposed to stone non-virgins as well. Bring on Carrie Prejean and let's have us a stonin, if she is so biblical. There are two references in the bible to possible homosexuality, badly translated by King James monks. There are many to sacraficing animals, stoning people,, eyes for eyes. We forget the New Testament. Do unto others. Easy to pick and choose which parts you follow and don't. I'm a religions major and it's a darn hard religion to follow all the rules on.

    43. 43

Oh and the right to challange votes is legal and a darn good idea. If the vote had gone the other way, people would be crying foul and DEMANDING a re-count. If it's all on the up and up, why be afraid to have it investigated. Is it that the people against prop 8 are afraid it was corrupted? Give it up and stop having the Feds control who can marry whom. Would save a lot of money and stress. Again, I don't feel my husband is secretly gay and would leave me for man if he was able to marry one. What are the people against it afraid of? Live your life to your own moral standards and let others alone. Gay people do not raise anymore gay children than straight people. Gay people want to be treated with equality. This is a dinosaur and needs to be put in the extinct file. If you turn the other cheek and love your neighbor as yourself…but is that only for whites, who are straight and never do anything wrong? That's another ball of wax.

    44. 44

All I have to say is, IF it does pass, PLEASE don't start kissing and making out in front of me! I know this sounds like a double standard, but I just get sick to my stomach when I see two dudes kiss, ugh!

    45. 45

you couldnt even get this passed in california, the most liberal state in the union, what makes you think you can anywhere else? get over it already!

    46. 46

if the vote on this was manipulated in some way does that open up questions about the voting on other laws? america seems rather behind a lot of places when it comes to gay rights. over here a registrar who refused to marry two people because they were gay would probably lose their job.

    47. 47

Re: cjkitti – It doesn't affect YOU if two men or two women are married - your children won't be corrupted and it has nothing to do with your sad, pathetic life. Stop trying to control other people's lives. What kind of hate-filled person wants to tell a loving couple that they shouldn't be together, simply due to their own, personal prejudices. How much hate can you have in your heart if you get out of bed in the morning, go to a voting poll and vote to restrict another person's life??? It's disgusting and vile. Gay couples deserve to be married, too. I want to see my gay friends have the chance to be happily married, and no one has the right to tell them they can't be married. You people disgust me, and I hope one day you learn how to care about your fellow human beings.
Re: rebelisme – You cannot compare the acts of consenting adults to paedophilia.

    48. 48

Perez what do you care if Gay marriage is legal? No man in their right mind will marry such a bitter, miserable, jealous, hateful soul. The way you have acted towards people is gonna be your slap in the face in the end when your ready for love and marriage and family. All your nasty, hateful comments about "Maniston", Misha Barton, Rachael Zoe, Brittany Murphy and a countless number of many will haunt you in the end.

    49. 49

crap..the only way theres ever going to be a real answer to this is if the government makes it a whole country voting process, everone registered to vote would have to go to a voting booth and vote electronically once and for all to get it over with, then whatever the outcome, thats the rule…once and for all.but what if the majority votes against? then what?

    50. 50

Re: This_Is_My_Nightmare – It was taken over by the Supreme Court in Iowa, which is what should happen in every state. One day, hopefully soon, you'll have to live in a country where men are married to men and women are married to women - in every single state! It will be wonderful :)

    51. 51

Re: Brandonlk – I agree completely.

    52. 52

After how Carrie Prejean was treated would you admit how you really feel in public? Or would you just offer the politically correct answer?

    53. 53

And can we take a look at ACORN while we are at it? I think if you are too dumb to determine how the law is written, then you don't need to be deciding laws that mandate people's lives. Maybe it will have a better chance after all of the uninformed bandwagon voters that helped to elect the moron in the White House stop coming to the polls and the serious, caring voters (that understand a ballot) start deciding the fate of the country again. But all the liberals wanted him in office…you can't have your ass and eat it too!

    54. 54

I'm a introvert, but I'm going to throw a huge party when gays get to marry. HUGE.

    55. 55

      Next topic, please!!!

    56. 56

I am FOR gay marriage and I hope everyone gets their right to "Marriage". HOWEVER, I think there are a LOT of people out there that voted YES but lied in exit polls for fear of confrontation/ridicule. How many people want to say they are against gay marriage publicly when it is such a popular issue in the media? Tough call, but I'd say many exit polls on hot voting issues have been WRONG over the years and no - just because an independent party wants an issue looked into doesn't mean it should. There isn't a vote that happens that SOMEONE doesn't think there was unfairness/fraud. if we investigated EVERY vote that was contested by an independent party, we'd go broke. What we need to do is RALLY more people to our side, and when it comes up again we'll hopefully have a landslide and it will be an undeniable win!!!

    57. 57

Re: Nancyl – It doesn't matter if it makes sense or not. People always lie to the exit pollsters. Kerry/Bush is a perfect example of exit polling being completely wrong. You really need more evidence like voter fraud or machines that did not work. Exit polls are not proof nor scientific.

    58. 58

The fact that we are even voting on a minority's civil rights is disgusting. Some of these evangelicals are unbelievably selfish. They act as if their "beliefs" are more important than everyone else's and they have to force it on everyone else. Personally, I think they are overcompensating for something else.

    59. 59

This is just horrific yet expected. I am willing to bet that the Mormon Church had something to do with this. look up mormonproposition.com

    60. 60

Yeah it happened in the presidential election also. Look what we're stuck with now. Mr Do-Nothing

    61. 61

Investagation over. That was quick. It looks like it didn't change anything.

    62. 62

Im a gay man and just wanted to leave my opinion. In the time we have been together, my partner has been in the hospital twice and I was denied the right to see him because we are not "married". In the future, if something happens to either on of us, the other is basically screwed. Because we are not "married", we have no legal rights to one another's belonging, financial holdings, etc. If something happened to my partner, his family could swoop in and take everything that was his, leaving me with nothing, even though we have built this life TOGETHER. As far as "marriage" goes, I dont care what it would be called for 2 people of the same sex to be be legally joined. I just want to the HUNDREDS of legal rights afforded to me that married heterosexual couples have. It amazes me that straight people can be married, have the marriage annulled, be divorced as many times as they want and no one says anything. But 2 people of the same sex want just the chance to be married and there is something terribly wrong with that?? As far as this "corruption" with the exiting polls…people lie. People do not want confrontation. But it makes me wonder: if you lied in an exit poll and said you voted NO on Prop 8, did you do that to avoid confrontation (when usually there isnt any) or because you didnt care for the way it would make you look if you told the truth?

    63. 63

Honestly, the reason most people voted YES on Prop 8 was for religious reasons. And thats fine. But if we are going to go that route, what about the millions of married straight couples that are not religious..should they have their marriage license revoked because they dont believe in God or the Bible? If you are going to use religion as a way to oppress and dictate other peoples lives, then you should go full force and not pick and choose what parts of that religion you are going to use to do so.

    64. 64

    66. 66

Here is the dirty little secret of exit polls - very few people actually tell them the truth. I've never told them the way I vote - idiots wasting my time - toy with them.

    67. jkf says – reply to this

      67

Obviously when people were polled upon their exit they said "the right thing"', they voted for gay rights. When they were behind the curtain and no one could see they voted with their brain

    68. 68

Sorry to tell this to you Perez…..but America was built upon the two faced nature of the people that "discovered" America…..you think 500+ years has changed these two faced back stabbers…. they will smile in your face as they steal your lands and then deny you your basic rights….. I'm sure their legacy is going strong… so don't be upset that the same two faced people that gave your Cuban ancestors blue eyes and fair skin continue to control your life. It was simply people lying about how they voted and not some sinister plot maybe they think gay marriage is "icky poo" just like you find so many thinks to fit into that category.

    69. 69

If there is corruption - itll be in future history books. I knew the voting didnt sound right!

    70. 70

      I wouldnt be surprised.

    74. 74

@ URnot1stdumbass, if "marriage" is 'just a word', people shouldn't fight so hard to keep it away from gay couples using it. So I recommend you shut the fuck up.

    75. ap076 says – reply to this

      75

My opinion on this issue has always been clear you don't need and should not want this issue to be voted on by the electorate.
Issues of civil rights of a minority should not be voted on by the majority.
Again I live in Massachusetts and would defy anyone to come up with how gay marriage here for a decade and a half has hurt anything.

    76. ap076 says – reply to this

      76

I will say I am unfamiliar with the Election Defense Alliance, but a quick look at their website might indicate they are left leaning. For instance they are offering a book about how the 2004 Presidential election in Ohio was stolen.
I understand they have taken into account the exit poll error factor, but for this particular issue I actually believe many more than usual may have felt pressured to lie and say they voted against the gay marriage ban when in fact they voted for it.
Lastly Pyrex I really wish you would limit your posts on gay rights to an absolute minimal, I come here for gossip and a laugh (provided by the posters) not a lecture on Equality rights.

    77. 77

The people voted why can't you just get over it GOSH but to be fair the 08 election was also corrupt but it is what it is.

    78. 78

Re: kygirl05 – Please explain how the 2008 election was corrupt?

    79. 79

for those loooosers that can not get it through their stubborn dreams; in California, the residents define marriaqge between a man and a women, not ADAM And STEVE.

    80. 80

I truly believe this is possible.
      .
      EQUALITY FOR ALL.

    81. 81

at least there is someone doing something…hopefully there is a change in the horizon.

    82. 82

I just don't understand how two people getting married hurts anybody else. I don't get the hatred, I don't get the fear. I'm a 53 year old straight married christian woman with two children (neither are gay, but I'd not care if they were). I just don't understand why it should matter what two strangers do.

    83. 83

Re: h8terboi – I agree and most people do think this is discussing they just don't have the back bone to say it. If it pass fine if it does'nt pass that's okay too. I don't care how many chances they get to vote on this if it keeps comming back no to same sex marriages the people that are gay are going to keep bitching until they think they will get their way!
They should go to a country that is okay with it and quit waisting are time voting on it and costing the states money when there are people living on the streets starving to death. They would rather take the money to print this
prop.8 vote on paper then feed the people on the streets and yes some are there by choice and some are out there because they have lost a job they have had for 10 yrs. or more and no longer have that job and can't find a lot of work here in the States but yet they want to bother us with this bull-shit?

    84. 84

First as a supportor of gay rights myself, you perez are a hypocrite. Second there is a such thing as semantics, if heteros do not want gays to have a "marriage", they should be able to have civil unions. This could afford the same legals rights as married folks. History dictates a marriage is between man and woman and sadly forcing them to change that would be forcing them to destroy history. The worst part is forcing others to vote on how other people live their life. For those of you who do not think that allowing gays to marry and have children would not affect others lives, your wrong. We live in a" nothings private" society, look at all the people that come to this site to read about people they do not know. People still compare pedophilla to homosexuality, so many ignorant people believe if you give homosexuals rights, it will not be long before pedophiles have right too.

    85. 85

Re: URnot1stdumbass – I care , and am not gay. Simply because I believe that the exact same rights should be afforded every single taxpaying citizen. No exceptions.

    86. 86

It is ridiculous that they are STILL trying to pretend that people really wanted this to pass. Don't you know that exit polls aren't scientific, nor are the participants always truthful about their vote! Get over it….the people said NO, so let it go!

    87. 87

      Re: cjkitti

I agree with you 1000 percent! At what point did it become okay for others to take away our rights for theirs? As for the boy scout thing, it is a great example of how there are still people out there that want to FORCE us to accept that they aren't traditional male/female folks. I say if there is question then have a new scout; such as transgender, identity confused or "other". The fact is that they are either a boy OR a girl. What they WANT to be is irrelevant!

    88. 88

Re: This_Is_My_Nightmare – YES, I would agree with you, "your ass is for shittin only". And no one wants you to have to do anything untoward with YOUR ass. But why do you think you should be able to dictate what others do with their own ass?

    89. 89

That there was an abnormal disparity between the exit polls and the actual results is not surprising. People are generally more political correct in public than they are in the privacy of the voting booth. A lot of people probably voted with their homophobia in private but put on their political-correct mask when facing the exit pollsters.

    90. 90

Gays should be able to get married

    91. 91

Oh…you mean like the 2004 Presidential election??

Well..NOTHING was done about that, so …….GOOD LUCK!

    92. 92

republicans tampering with ballot boxes and election results, what a shock - NOT

    93. 93

      It wasn't a miscount or a scandal.

The people outside of polls did the same thing they did when Tom Bradley was running…they lied!

People were afraid to say they voted "yes"…so they told reporters and pollsters "of course I voted no"….

      People lie to pollsters…duh!

    94. 94

      Re: Mattyboy8323
You DO have the legal right. It is called Power of Attorney. Give it to boyfriend and then you can make the decisions and see him.

Stop whining and do a little research before you blame everyone!

Re: cjkitti – church and state are supposed to be seperate. believe in whatever you want to, but this is a civil rights issue. and they should have the right.

Re: rudy96 – I'm not sure you're familiar with immigration laws. Someone cannot just move to another country, as you suggest. You're very ignorant and have absolutely no clue what you're talking about.

Re: amtj08 – The fact that people still equate homosexuality to paedophilia is just further proof that the Supreme Court, not the people, needs to decide this matter.

I take you didn't need that piece of paper? Maybe because you never found that special person you want to spend the rest of your life with!

Exit polls are notoriously unreliable. People tell the pollsters what they want to hear. Grow up, Perez.

Investigate away. Proving yet again, if the radicals can't over rule democracy, they'll stop at nothing - sue, complain, sue some more.

Funny, had it gone their way, none of this would be happening - sealed in gold on some mountain top, but since the radical gays can't stand democracy, they'll do what they do best, sue. American has rejected gay marriage - and yes, we have the RIGHT to vote on something as critical and life changing as marriage! If you re-define marriage - it means NOTHING - civil unions and not a fucking thing else!

      YES On 8 - FOREVER.
