NBC has announced that an El Lay based Law & Order could air next season. Currently, creator Dick Wolf is "developing" the idea, making it "highly possible."
Meanwhile, there doesn't seem to be any end in sight for the one that started it all. The original Law & Order is set to be renewed for a record 21st season, making it the longest running primetime drama in the history of television.
Way to go, Dick!

Ugh, it reminds me of what they did with CSI: Crime Scene Investigation! Should I be expecting Law & Order: New York to?
Yes there is an END IN SIGHT for Law & Order and it is called the 21st season. NBC executives have spoken openly about giving this show one last season so it can beat Gunsmoke's record.
This despite the show having worse ratings and a worse renew/cancel index than the already cancelled Trauma and the likely to be cancelled Mercy.

If it were up to Wolf's ego alone the new show would work. They tried another Law & Order called Trial by Jury and despite a talented cast (including the dying Jerry Orbach), it failed miserably.
Not to mention Law & Order Criminal Intent has been a USA network series for some time, with reruns only showing on NBC.
Also Law & Order SVU is doing poorly in it's new time slot and on it's new night (Thanks Leno) and is showing it's age.
Perhaps the franchise needs a rest for awhile, but then again NBC has so many hours of programming to fill.

I can't get enough of Law and Order, I watch it all the time and I love the marathons on cable. Maybe I "should get a life", but Law and Order will have to be a part of it!

i might watch it, but if it's lame like Criminal Intent I won't mind if it goes to TNT. SVU is the best one!
