Boo! Supreme Court Blocks YouTube Video Coverage Of Prop 8 Trial

Oh, no!
The Supreme Court blocked the YouTube video coverage of the San Francisco trial about the constitutionality of California's Proposition 8 and the ban on same-sex marriage.
Lawyers defending Prop. 8 filed an emergency appeal on Saturday citing that their rights to a fair trial could be jeopardized if the trial is broadcast on YouTube.
The Court's decision has barred "real-time streaming except as it permits streaming to other rooms within the confines of the courtroom in which the trial is to be held."
The only justice that dissented was Justice Stephen G. Breyer of San Francisco saying, "The papers filed, in my view, do not show a likelihood of irreparable harm."
What do they think is going to happen?
We're with Justice Breyer on this one!

EQUALITY FOR ALL.
.
EVEN BUCK AND ANDY. THEY MAKE SUCH A CUTE COUPLE.
FUK OFF PEREZ YOU GAY FAT PIECE OF SHIT UR JUST A DUM RETARD
This will be a battle of epic proportions regardless of whether it will be streamed live or not. I only hope that fairness and equality will win out, but the fear and hatemongering crowd are an evil group hard to get rid off. Down with H8!
Makes it sound like someone has something to hide.
This is all positive for Prop 8,…….
Why do you mention this, but no mention of Obama not allowing coverage of the Healthcare Bill negotiations???
I'm all for gay rights, but Perez, stop pretending you understand the legal system.
The President promised that the healthcare debate would be on TV. Where is that? Something people actually want to see that would have way more of an impact on Joe citizen than whether or not ass bandits and carpet munchers can get married.
Great comment Frag, your close My Opinion but let us not forget who the actual fear and hate mongering crowd is, those wanting it, this will only feed them the will to harm innocent people and their beliefs once on trial. Can we remeber the business owner who suffered because all she did was donate money, the ugliness directed at normal people who should be also allowed to have their opinion and of course the voters of California who voted for Prop 8. Remember the glass mirror here people, and then to add on I believe that yes, this open, honest?? and transparent administration, Pelosi and Ried and there minions are such a sham and endangerment to society and above all America.
The only reason to hide it is because the defenders of Prop 8 pretty much only have bigotry on their side….can't let everybody see that.
Gays get hitched north of the 49th and all's well, quiet! , and the sky hasn't fallen.
Re: Frag The Paps – what a douchebag. i know it's all about leaving the hate behind but i hate bigots like you, always calling gay people names. you dumb fuck, they deserve to have the same rights we do, and one of them is respect. so shove your words up your ass
DOWN WITH THE GAYS!!! Marrying and bringing up children?! ROFLMAO! Actually, CryingMAO that we are e-ven considering letting Deviants "raise" children. It's truly horrifying. I met a child once in the park who was being "raised" by his lesbian moms - he was depressed and lonely and confused. SO SAD and ABUSIVE.
Re: A Voice of Sanity – Quiet you clam.
Re: A Voice of Sanity – I am actually out of words, I don't know wether to call you a pedophile for talking to a kid about his personal life at such an itimate level or to call you a bluff. I'll just go with the first^^
At first blush I tend to fall on the side of trials being open to the viewing public.
But in this case 3 liberal judges (Ginsburg, Sotomayor, and Stevens) joined with the five conservative judges.
The argument was, "witnesses could be subjected to harassment and intimidation if they testified in favor of the ban on marriage for gay and lesbian couples". I think that this would probably happen so I ultimately agree with the decision even though I am completely in favor of marriage equality.
Re: Lincoln1 – I was starting to think I was one of the only ones disgusted with this administration… Glad to see there are others. I had hope in Obama, but am starting to see him as weak and a pawn. I think he will do more damage to this country than anyone ever hoped he could fix.
I can tell you EXACTLY what they're afraid of happening.
The people testifying for Prop 8 are actually embarrassed about going public with their bigotry. Who wants to be broadcast showing what an asshole you are?
We see videos of people in the 1960's who were against desegregation and black rights, and the people are viewed as the essence of hatred and prejudice and bigotry. The people for Prop 8 are the modern version of that, and they know it. They're against the rights, but they don't want to be immortilized on video for all time for our children to see and THEIR children, who will be ashamed of them when the inevitable day comes that gay marriage is legal and considered normal all over the country.
