As you read this, Jessica Biel is climbing up Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania!

Biel, alongside a number of celebs, is taking part in the Summit on the Summit climb to raise awareness and $$$$ for the clean water crisis.

Supporters have pledges a dollar for every foot Jess scales, and apparently Biel is not doin' too shabby!

The avid fitness fan is reportedly "more than holding her own" on the climb!

But will she make it to the peak?

All these celebs seem to help out other countries what about this country. Except Brad Pitt who has done a lot for Katrina victims. While this country is headed for downfall and soon to be third world country with no jobs. I know third world conditions are already happening after I talk with people that have no heat and its freezing here in Michigan. Like the local university where I attend donated a bunch of computer equipment to Africa. I said don't some people in this town could use since schools are struggling to stay open and someone snapped at me and said its not that easy, these are people that want help, locally don't want help whatever. Sorry tangent

I'd probably make it to the base and freak out. Not that I'm unfit or anything, but the thought of nothing but packed food for however long they're trekking is just so unappealing to me.

  3. 3

She could probably easily donate more money out-of-pocket then she'll raise with this pointless publicity stunt. WTF does climbing a mountain have to do with clean water anyway?

  4. 4

Oh, and lack of toilets. That would suck.

But I think it's great what they're all doing =).

  5. 5

"But will she make it to the peak?"…
Of the mountain? Maybe (a frosty bitch like her wont mind the cold)
    Of the entertainment industry? Never

Ok every other gossip site has been covering this for a while since she started training for it!!! Geez get with it!

  7. 7

she's a total bad ass and most def my girl crush!

"Supporters have pledges a dollar for every"
Nice grammar, you might want to change the "s" to a "d" in "pledges".

The lengths she will go to get away from Justin.
They are at well over 15,000 feet and the peak is at 19,000 feat so unless they have to camp for a day or two to acclimatize they should be done in days.

Go JesS! She is very athletic.

  12. 12

bleh..my bro did that. He said it wasnt hard

  13. 13

Wow, please, it's not that big of a deal. My 54 year old dad climed last year and made it to the top and he wasn't even in the best shape of his life at that time.

  14. 14

It is a hike not a climb. I have done it years ago. It is no big deal. Besides you have a bunch of porters caring most of the gear. Please stop making this out to being a big deal.

"Clean water crisis"? Here we go again, liberals trying to put out a fire with gasoline. The only reason there is no clean water in parts of Africa is because the people running it are out of their minds in corruption. ANY money you give to these countries to help with hunger or water or housing or whatever NEVER gets to where it was intended, all this does is but another punk leading these countries another Rolls Royce or ends up in the hands of the militias who buy more guns with it. THe ONLY way to fix anything permanently in Africa is to install a federal constitutional republic based on free market CAPITALISM! Capitalism cures EVERYTHING. Put it this way; If there is no clean water in Africa, then there is a huge market for clean water, and you can bet your beans it would be solved in two seconds flat under that system. So why doesn`t Jess promote that instead? Because she is naive.

And why did you doubt her fatboy? You know you couldn't make it 1/10th of the way up the mountain so why do you feel the constant need to belittle people you don't like such as Biel? Mockery is not cool Perez especially when its for a good cause. But since you would never go out of the way to help someone like this….I'm wasting my breath..i mean typed words.

  17. 17

perez, this story has been covered for so long now… are you slippin??? :)

  18. 18

of course she will make it! she's ultra fit and has a rockin' body!

I know somebody who climbed the Kilimanjaro. It's not a steep mountain at all but the elevation gets to you. So you climb it very slowly, the slower the better, otherwise it could kill you. It still looks and sounds exhausting but it's not like she's taking on Mt. Everest.

  20. 20

I would love to climb her!!!

  21. 21

Mt. Kilimanjaro is a startling example of the effects of global warming. When I was there 25 years ago - (and, btw, it's not like climbing Mt. Everest - its' actually a very pleasant climb) there was snow aplenty. Now, this popular African trek is all but melted. Sad. Beautiful scenery though. Good for Jess!

  22. 22

    #15 - GOOD POINT.

  23. 23

Idk bout u guys but she looks hot as hell in this pic

  24. 24

good for her but it's not such a hard mountain to complete. I've done it myself via the Whiskey/Maranga route.

  25. 25

It's not a difficult climb, actually. It's one of the easier peaks. It's more of a hike. It's no Everest - in fact, there are far more challenging peaks in Colorado that I've climbed.

  26. 26

Oh please, it's more like hiking up a hill. They have porters that carry all their equipment, and all they have to do is walk. A friend of mine did it for a charity, and she said it's like going snowboarding and climbing up the bunny hill!

  27. 27

Again you're a day late and a dollar short. This was reported last week on the better blog.

  28. 28

    Re: bubble gum

LOL. I would just set up camp at the bottom of the mountain. :)

  29. 29

I admire Jessica Biel. She is talented, athletic and has an amazing body.

She is doing this for a good cause. Congrats to her !

"All these celebs seem to help out other countries what about this country."

Our country has the highest standard of living in the world. Is it that important to you to keep Americans living like kings while other people suffer? You turn on your tap and clean water comes out. You take it for granted. Not everyone in the world has access to clean water. Let's take care of that and then go back to worrying how we can keep all deserving Americans supplied with iPods and wiis.
