Seinfeld Weighs In On Conan/Leno
Jerry Seinfeld is siding with NBC and doesn't seem to think that the network has screwed over Conan O'Brien at all when it comes to the Jay Leno situation.
The comedian says:
"It was the right idea at the wrong time…I'm proud that NBC had the guts to try something. What did the network do to him [Conan]? I don't think anyone's preventing people from watching Conan. Once they give you the cameras, it's on you.
"I can't blame NBC for having to move things around. I hope Conan stays, I think he's terrific. But there's no rules in show business, there's no refs."
Good point, but we still think Conan got the shiz end of the stick in this one.

I think they all make 8 figures per annum, soooooo I couldn't care less which one of them got fucked. That's what I think !!
1) Isn't Seinfeld one of Leno's best friends and wasn't he the first guest on Leno at 10pm.
2) Seinfeld is just being a good company boy as he made this comment while promoting his new NBC series "The Marriage Ref," where couples have their disputes solved by a celebrity panel.
This show sounds like a bigger piece of crap than Leno at 10pm.
Conan is good but it was the wrong time for NBC to put him on the 11:30pm time slot because Leno was still popluar and beating Letterman in the ratings. In the end if people like a show they will watch it you can't blame NBC for people not watching Conan. Seinfeld is right and is just stating the obvious.
If people can't see throught this they are blind. Seinfeld is giving NBC head and trying to wrangle himself a deal for a late night gig. Glad the studio headcases don't coach NFL teams. They would trade Peyton Manning for Donovan McNabb. Remember, Jeff Zucker was the one that was convinced Katy Couric would be dynamite. Yeah, she blew a hole in SEEBS's azzz.

Conan definitely got the shitty end of the stick, because the 11:30 time slot is the most desired. There are way more people up to watch an 11:30 time slot than there is the 12:00 one, therefore automatically giving Leno the advantage when it comes to the ratings. I think Conan should just walk and go over to Fox. Clearly NBC isn't putting Conan first, so why should he care about NBC?

Jay did better in the time slot than Conan. But Conan gets a fat pay day either way. Jimmy is the 1 getting fucked. I think he is way funnier and has a better core demographic for advertisers than either.
Conan's personal humor is so much better than Jay's. Jay's condescending and his show appeals mostly to the old folks.

Of course Conan is getting screwed. Jay said he was giving up the Tonight show so give it up. Don't have ANOTHER Tonight show on every night at 10:30. If he had just left like he said he would Conan's ratings would be fine. This way they were splitting people between Jay and Conan. STUPID.
How can he be shafted if they are paying him 200 million dollars for the next 6 years if he works for them or not–anyone working that doesnt have to do what the boss tells you to—poor guy..

I think Leno got the shit end of the stick when he was forced to retire by NBC when Conan's contract came up five years ago on the Late Show and he threatened to quit unless he was guaranteed the Tonight Show in a short period of time. Jay didn't want to retire. Then when during that five years time Conan's Late Show started falling in the ratings while Leno continued to be #1 on the Tonight Show and NBC panicked and didn't want to lose Jay then. Hence the whole 10pm slot to keep him. Now Conan has lost half of the viewers Jay had and the 10pm slot didn't work. Really it all comes down to Conan screwed everyone to begin with by thinking he was bigger then he really turned out to be and NBC bought into it.

I don't care for Conan, but love Leno, even though I rarely watch those kinds of shows. I think it's terrible what NBC has done to them both. I feel more sorry for Conan because he relocated his entire family (he has young children) from the east coast to the west coast. I think NBC should've sucked it up and given them a year to find their footing. After the year is up they could re-assess then. NBC is a sinking ship, poorly run from top to bottom. I have no sympathy for them.

tv is all about the ratings and conan's are in the toilet. simple as that. there have been many shows that were cancelled after a single eposide. conan has been given more than a fair chance and he failed.. end of story.
It's time for Leno to give up, if his show isn't doing good than it's obviously time for him to move in, because if his fans loved him so much they would of stuck it with him. Conan's Better, Always has been. I never enjoyed Leno's show as much as I enjoy Conan's. NBC is making a big mistake.
Jay sucks big time! Conan is so much funnier, but the old foogies just can't relate to him. My prediction, Conan bolts to FOX, Jay takes over the Tonight show again, and…. no one will care! Can they cancell Jay off of the tonight show!? Just a thought. Go Jimmy Fallon!
When Jay inherited the Tonight Show from Johnny Carson, he did not turn it upside down and create a completely different experience. He kept it upbeat and lively, with all of the same elements that Johnny had created. However, when Conan moved to Hollywood, he brought that whole New York mess with him and turned the Tonight Show into something unrecognizable.
Jay has always tried to keep some "Hollywood glamor" alive in his show, thought it wasn't always easy. He put the focus and attention on guests and their projects. Conan puts the attention on HIMSELF.
Conan should not have brought the NY band to Hollywood. He should not have brought his NYC theme song to the Tonight Show, and he should not be doing all the Conan-centric stuff. I mean, he is still talking about his own hair almost nightly. Every minute he spends talking about that is time he's not spending on his guests - and THAT IS WHY HIS SHOW IS FAILING.
If he had come to L.A. to do the Tonight Show, this might have worked. Instead he came to L.A. to re-do his tired Conan NY format in an earlier time slot. It is absolutely no wonder why this has failed.
Once they give you the cameras, it's on you,Jay at 10:00 pm. Fail.

Seinfield is a NBC tool and Jay's close close friend. Im pretty disgusted with Leno, he's trying to act all innocent but he's not. I really hope this will show leno's true colors to everyone.

You seem to forget, it was Conan who stirred up the bees' nest when he THREATENED NBC he was leaving and FORCED them to pay him big and move Jay. Conan was a jerk to try to blackmail the network, now he has to pay. What goes around comes around.
Conan is funnier than Jay-absolutely. Feeling guilty for not watching those shows at that hour–the problem isn't Conan–it's the time slot–I don't watch the Tonight Show, I watch my DVR at that time of night–catching up on everything I taped!
