Golden Girl Returns To TV!

Too bad the project sounds like it will crash and burn within minutes!

Our fave Golden Girl, Betty White, has been tapped to star in a brand new sitcom pilot for the TV Land network. The show entitled Hot in Cleveland will star Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, and Wendie Malick as "three eccentric fortysomething best friends from L.A. who wind up stuck in Cleveland and decide to stay there when they realize the locals consider them glamorous."

Our gal Betty is going to play a "grumpy and opinionated lady who has lived in the cottage of the trio's Cleveland house for 50 years."

If they give Betty enough screen time, she might be able to carry the series for half a season, but we can't imagine her doing more than that. Even legends have their limits.

Do U think U would watch this show?

I think it sounds good. I will watch it.

Even in Cleveland they have enough taste to know that Valerie Bertinelli is a tired has-been. So sad to see the glorious Betty White attached to such a stinker.

I love me some Betty White and Wendie Malick, but the other two… not so much. I'll give it a shot maybe, but only for Betty. Love you Betty! You go girl!

White is a living legend and I enjoy Leeves and Malick. The show may have been developed for TV Land (who I didn't think did original programming), but more than likely this pilot has been shopped around and rejected by more than a few networks.

    I love them all! yay!

The problem is Valerie Bertollifusilliwhatever and Jane Leevesbrtiishladyfromfrasier. They aren't funny at all. I'm down with Wendy Mallik and Betty though. If it had Megan Mullalleycat and Jennifer Coolidge and Wendy Mallik as the three ladies, then I'd watch it.

…the cast is excellent and sounds like a winner to me. More scripted shows and less 'reality.'

  12. 12

i will watch anything the fabulously talented Betty White is in, she is PERFECT… and Wendy Malick is great too!

  13. 13

I'll give it shot. I love Betty and Valerie.

  14. 14

they are trying to updo a 2010 version of th Golden Girls — ain't gonna work.

  15. 15

Good for Betty. Still working at her age .. and still funny.
Don't know if I'll watch or not. Depends on how well-written it turns out

  16. 16

Odd, it sort of sounds like the episode of 30Rock when Liz Lemons goes to Ohio with her boyfriend and everyone there thinks she is a model. Hmmmm

  17. 17

I think it sounds funny, I love Jane Leeves and Wendy Malick is hilarious

  18. 18

I love Betty. I'll be checking it out.

  19. 19

She was the best moments in "The Proposal" and I still miss her character on Boston Legal…

  20. 20

Yep, I'd watch. Sounds like a fabulous cast to me.

  21. 21

    yes

  22. 22

I will not watch. Some ignorant fool from LA has stolen a tired old script from 50 years ago. Making fun of Cleveland is not original and has grown old. I'm not even from the area and I'm tired of it! No wonder reality shows have taken over. No one can think of anything original.

  23. 23

    shes a total gilf

  24. 24

Aww, I love her. Sounds like a cute show.

  25. 25

What's with the Cleveland infatuation? lol.. So odd.. Never thought people even thought of this place..

  26. 26

The concept sounds cute, I will watch it. Plus, I LOVE Betty White.

  27. 27

I don't know how long it will last. It sounds an awful lot like the Golden Girls and to tap one of the originals to be part of the series seems a bit over the edge.

  28. 28

sounds like it could be funny to me. i'm getting tired of these phony reality shows that seem so scripted. some of them are so "put on" it's ridiculous. the only problem i forsee is that valerie bertinelli can't act.

  29. 29

I work in Cleveland… Don't think I want to go home and watch a show about it :) Love ya Betty.

  30. 30

It'll kill her! Hope it doesn't stand! White is too f'ing OLD!

  31. 31

Yes I think I would watch it I like all the actors in this.
