J. Lo Blasts In Vitro Fertilization!
Some women choose to have In Vitro Fertilization in order to get pregnant, but Jennifer Lopez is definitely not one of them.
According to J. Lo, she never considered IVF as it goes against her Scientology Catholic beliefs.
The 40-year-old opens up to Elle magazine in a recent interview and explains:
"When it comes to family and relationships, I'm quite traditional. Just because of the way I was raised.
And I also believe in God and I have a lot of faith in that, so I just felt like you don't mess with things like that.
And I guess deep down I really felt like either this is not going to happen for me or it is… And, if it is, it will. And if it's not, it's not going to."
So deep.
But luckily for Lopez, she was able to conceive and managed to give birth to twins at the age of 39.
Guess she really must have prayed hard.

Twins are more common in older women of childbearing age. Maybe part of the reason there are soo many twins in actresses. They wait until its very late in their reproductive cycle to have children. I'm sure some are with fertility drugs however.

I kinda agree with her. I believe in the "natural" process. Some people aren't meant to conceive children. As heartbreaking as that might be, maybe it's not in the cards for someone to have their "own" child. Maybe adoption is what needs to be done instead. But then again, to each their own.

see I have a problem with this statement. I'm a firm believer in the freedom of Choice and I'm also a believer in God. But if you're saying God blessed people with the intelligence for IVF then he also blessed them with the intelligence for abortions. Which is part of the reason I have a hard time understanding Pro-lifers. It's a big no no to kill an unborn child but it's completely acceptable to conceive a few in a petree dish, inject them into ones body repeatedly until you finally get a few that work. Then its ok to throw the "test tubes" babies out because you already got one or two that your body didn't reject. Pot meet kettle. IVF sounds like it's almost premeditated murder.

Not that I ever thought you or your staffers/writers were a terribly sensitive lot, but most women do not CHOOSE in vitro. It's usually the last alternative in a long, painful journey to have children. I forgive you, though, as I expect you're not old enough, or anyone on your staff, to have had to suffer the mental and financial distress of infertility.

You don't go from having trouble getting pregnant to twins without help. It is loathesome when celebrities skirt around issues to make it seem like their lives all just magically work (i.e., I eat whatever I want and don't work out.). It sends the worst message to real people dealing with real life problems - that life should be easier, if only … No. Life's hard. It's work. And, you don't get everything you want. I am 45 years old, and I my daughter is 9 months old. She was definitely a surprise. I think getting pregnant at my age is pretty rare. I had my other 2 girls at 38 and 35. Being 39 years old isn't that odd having a baby. My sister had her last child at 39.

The "just adopt" argument is a pain in the ass. Domestic adoption costs START at $20 000. In Vitro costs between $1000 and $15 000, depending on the procedure/medication. Those of us who are unable to have children are sick of being told to "just" do anything - "just relax!" "just adopt!"… why is it that people who are able to have kids feel that they can tell people who can't what they 'should' do?

well, the catholic church has a pretty strong point of view about the use of IVFs. in their opinion, people do NOT have the right to a child, a child is a gift from God, therefore, if you cannot conceive without the help of assisted reproductive technologies, you should not have a child.

I do not believe her for one minute. Plus when you are a celebrity keep you opinions about these issues to yourself because it spreads ignorance. This is the reason people who are infertile don't say so. The posts that say if what is meant to be is meant to be are obviously either already parents or have not experienced the pain of infertility. People who say it isn't natural should stop taking all of their medications and deal with whatever happens to them healthwise since that would be natural. I am Catholic and have done IVF. I have used every embyro and have given them all the chance and have not destroyed any of them so there are ways to control that aspect. And technically birth control of any kind are against Catholic beliefs too and I doubt J Lo was never on the pill with all of her flings and marriages in the past. To say God doesn't want me or someone else to be parent is really stupid. Like God would let a drug addict be a mother but not me is ridiculous.
