Guess America made have spoken too soon on the injustice that left Kris Allen the winner of American Idol - because he's got selling power!
Adam Lambert may have had a bigger first week than Allen, but the numbers for their singles are telling. Allen's Live Like We're Dying has been sold just under 500,000 downloads and holds the #27 spot on the Soundscan singles charts while Glambert's For Your Entertainment has sold just over 200,000.

I found Lambert absolutely nobody I ever wanted to listen to. He has amazing vocal range but his voice sucks. Add to the sucky voice the fact that he wants to shove his being gay in everybody's face, and well it's just lose lose for us all. I'm a huge proponent of gay rights. I'm never a proponent of shoving your sex in others faces. Nobody wants to see simulated non consensual sex acts. Nobody. It's not cutting edge, it's not artistry. It's ultimately just icky.
If little Glammie doesn't clean up his dirty little act and mouth he will have no career at all. He is an offensive human being. Grow up, Glammie. I don't understand the point of this. Kris sold 500,000 singles, Adam 200,000. And Adam has sold about 450,000 albums, to Kris's approx 250,000. Plus they're friends. Plus they're probably doin' it. Plus they'll both be around for quite a while, whether you mooks say mean things about them or not. I think they're both pleasant and lovely. Plus they win because they're doing what they love, and we all suck because we're hanging out on this fool's comment section instead of having a life.
Adam is by far the better singer, the problem is his album didn't show off his voice. It has too much synthesizer crap and not enough of Adam's amazing voice.
I hope his next album has better song choices, the songs he did on Idol are better than any song on his CD.

He will fall from grace fast just like everyone else who won american idol (besides kelly clarkson, carrie underwood) In a year when a new Idol is crowned none of you will care about him! The only reason Kris's crappy song is selling is because they keep pushing it on the radio. I never hear Adam's music on the radio, Why? Adam's new video will be released soon, and he looks, and sound gorgeous. His production company needs to start creating merchandise with Adam's image on it. The man is beautiful and sales in that alone will make millions. Where are the calenders,and posters? They should start by using the more stripped down image of Adam. People magazine shot a beautiful picture of Adam not long ago. beneath it it said Adam Bares All. Unbelievable! A song needs to get stuck in your head before you buy it. How can this happen if noone hears your music. Adam's CD is amazing, yet mainstream America has never heard it. This is bullshit!

Downloads are over rated. Downloaded music is digitally chopped up and you don't get to hear the full range of sound.

Just because they were on Idol together doesn't mean their songs and albums came out the same day. Kris' single came out in September and Adam's in November. A better comparison would be their albums. Kris' came out one week before Adam's and Adam has sold way more. Selling a whole album gets more money then one song.

Kris Allen isn't even in the same league with Adam Lambert!!! Right now Adams album is at #36 on the Billboard Top 200 and Kris's is at #91. So….I hate to tell ya Perez…..Kris might be in the lead with one song but Adam is kicking his ASS in album sales! Also, Adam's video for "Whataya Want From Me" is premiering on MTV & VH1 this Friday and I guarentee as soon as people see and hear his new video their definitely gonna want the whole CD!
I get a kick out of reading blogs that start…I am a seventy year old lady and I love Adam Lambert…his fan base is older women,teenage girls and some gay guys. I have never heard a straight guy say he likes his music, although my husband, who is a musician, agrees that he has a great voice. In respect to Adam being himself, I think he has been too shaped by music theatre and the L.A. scene. If he could truly stop with the sexual references (AMA Awards, snake approaching his crotch on the Rolling Stone mag cover) and SING, every one else will just listen. There is a difference between being charismatic and being a specticle. I am a fan, but don't want him to fail because of some bad decisions.
I will go buy Kris Allen's single just to make sure he stays ahead of that classless pig, Adam.

I watched the AMAs and was looking forward to seeing Adam Lambert….I was really upset. Not only were his vocals way off, but also I pictured all those young teenaged girls and 12 year olds that voted for him being given special permission to stay up late and watch him. What a bad career move, and how crazy to think it wasn't. Sorry to say, but everyone has to watch his or her image and remeber who put them where they are. He could have huge sales based on his voice if he tones down the glam thing and works with someone like Jesse McCartney (great song writer).

problem is adams album was dissapointing. it didnt live up to his potential. he went the britney route and not the 70s glam route which would have been really cool. add to that his ama performance which was based more on shock value than artistic merit, then all the press and u get your own audiance tired of u. its too much too soon. i was an adam lambert fan but now i am so sick of him. he needs to go away for a little while, reinvent himself and then come back with a kick ass album.

You must be kidding. Kris Allen is the lowest selling winner and his album only sold around 220,000 copies in six weeks. The thing is the winner usually is expected to sell at least a million plus. I've never seen a winner that didn't have a platinum album remain under contract. It doesn't matter that his single is doing better; his album still has to sell at least one million. He was awarded the million dollar contract and they are expecting him to deliver.

Adam is selling to his fanbase at the moment. They are rabid middle-aged beasts inside the AI bubble, with some reports of one single Glambert buying 500 copies. If he can't get on the radio or sell any singles, his album sales will start declining.
If Kris continues getting radio airplay, and selling singles, his album will definately do the opposite. Having a song on the radio, and selling to people outside the AI bubble will only help Kris. This is why Perez has posted this on his blog people. He knows whats up!

Millions of Idol fans voted for Kris and that's why he won Idol, so 500,000 single sales in 3 months is not great at all. He is still the lowest selling Idol winner and I don't know how can you say he is already building a fanbase outside AI. As for Adam, his new single is steadily gaining more spins. It has only been out for 7 weeks so give it 7 more weeks of spins and let’s see where it is at and how it is selling.

However, the AMA debacle made me "eat" my words. I was mortified. Not b/c I'm a square, but that my favorite performer in years squandered such an important opportunity. I know talent. I believed in Adam, but that and his successive interviews and appearances have greatly disappointed. His humility, talent and performing chops were off the chain on AI. Now? Not loving him.

I think both singers are excellent, though I think Glambert is a once in a generation talent, but……….Glambert knows absolutely nothing about marketing himself. The music business is a business. You have to appeal to an audience. A wider audience is better than a niche audience if you want to keep selling records and filling auditoriums. To that end, Adam should lighten up on the make-up a bit and concentrate more on selling th esong than his sexual orientation. Having said that I think his voice is incredible. The songs from his album were so (over)produced that they could have been sung by anybody. Adam has a Rolls Royce voice, his next album should be a showcase for it. Pure and simple. As for the gay stuff, who cares? Just sing great songs. Other people's sex-lives and/or orientation bore most people (Perez excluded).
Look at the cd sales though and its a different story. Adams cd debuted @ # 3 and is still in the top 30 while Chris's cd is in the 90's. Adam is doing very well and will continue to do so as his cd is full of singles to release and he is getting tons of exposure. Besides why can't they both do well. They are friends and so many people just wanna stir up shit. It is sad and disgusting.
The people saying America is not ready for Adam may be right because America is miles behind Europe, Canada and much of Asia in it's attitude towards gays.
