Ben McKenzie Points & Laughs At Jay Leno

As well he should!

After getting the shaft from NBC to make room for The Jay Leno Show, Ben McKenzie from the show Southland, couldn't help but crack a smile to the news that Jay's show is getting the same swift kick in the ass.

Though he says Leno is a "great guy," he adds : "I'm glad it failed. Things have worked out in a good way."

Sure have…unless your name is Conan O'Brien.

Maybe you boys should go for drinks!

Oh give it a rest Perez if everyone liked Conan so much they should have watch his damn show and stop bitching and complaining about it when it got cancel. And am sorry but Leno got screw over first funny how people fail to mention that he didn't want to leave his 11:30pm time slot until he was force out by Conan along with NBC because they bought into the hype surrounding Conan taking over. But then he failed and now everyone is blaming Leno which am tired of.

I don't get it, why is this news? Why is Ben Mackenzie happy about Jay Leno? Did they have some kinda beef with each other? Did Jay make fun of his cxl'd 'Southland'? Someone plz explain, cuz this doesn't make any sense to me at all.

Why is he laughing?
Jay still has a job and is making tens of millions of dollars a year.
The show did not fail because it was never a serious effort in the first place.
It was just a test.

I actually read the article that you aren't citing. He said he's glad SOUTHLAND failed at NBC because they have more freedom to do edgier stories on TNT. It really had little to do with Jay.

I love "Southland," and Jay Leno's show torpedoed this new, well-written, and compelling drama about the L.A.P.D.
I am indebted to TNT for picking up this powerful drama.
McKenzie is right. This is an opportunity for scripted TV shows to return to the 10 p.m. time slot on NBC.

I loved Southland and was pissed when it got cancelled. I'm thrilled that TNT picked it up. It's a hit show!! I also like Conan O'Brien well enough but unfortunately for him when Carson retired I switched to Letterman because I just coudln't stomach Jay Leno. I wasn't about to ditch Letterman for Conan at this late date. I feel bad for Conan. The people behind the programming at NBC should be fired for putting Jay on 5 nights a week at 10. What a fuck up that was. HE said he wanted to retire, so retire already. Go home, get out, good bye!!!! Now because of Leno's selfishness Conan's out on his can. What an ass!!!!
