Sad news today in the music word.
Garage rock legend Jay Reatard passed away on Tuesday night in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee.
Reatard, born Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr., was only 29.
Jay's label, Matador Records, has released a statement on the musician's untimely passing:
"Jay was as full of life as anyone we've ever met, and responsible for so many memorable moments as a person and artist. We’re honored to have known and worked with him, and we will miss him terribly."
So, so sad.
Our thoughts are with his loved ones.

This really upsets me.
I fucking L-O-V-E Jay Reatard. I can honestly say that his music inspires me. I once had a chance to go to a show that he played at, but I couldn't… Missing it is a huge regret of mine. He was an amazing musician, a true artist.
If you've never heard of him, I'm really sorry. You're missing out. He truly is a legend, both during his life and now.
Rest in peace, Jay. You'll never know the affect you've had on me.

Do any of you know how to say anything other than 'sad', 'sad, sad', 'so sad', and 'so, so sad'? Because it sounds completely insincere… which I'm sure it is. Just like when you list those charities - as if you actually care.
As a Memphian, I gotta say that this hits us pretty hard. We've lost 3 greats in the past 6 months: Jim Dickinson(famed producer&session musician), Willie Mitchell(famed producer, Al Green would be nothing w/out him), and now Jay Reatard. This is a major devastation for our city. Have some respect, people.
