Ryan Seacrest To Judge Idol?
We think this is a horrible idea.
Sources are responding to rumors that Ryan Seacrest may be pulling double duty on American Idol next year.
Since the news that Simon Cowell is singing so long, farewell to the Idol panel, everyone has been speculating who will take his chair. The loudest theory we've heard is that Ryan Seacrest will skip off stage to take his place, and Idol insiders aren't denying it. One such source suggested:
"Anything is possible. Stay tuned."
That just won't do, if you ask us. With both Paula Abdul and Simon gone, Idol is going to need a real musical icon to fill the void. Anything else will result in it's fall from grace.

I doubt they would actually do it. i think they are just creating drama for drama sakes. I heard a really good idea for a new judge from Harry Levin tho…Elton John! He would be fantastic as a judge AND carry enough star power to draw a crowd. And he can be such an acidic ass when he wants to! lol…
Now I love Ryan and think he is AMAZING as the idol host…. But I don't think he should be a judge… Idol is changing so much with Simon departing, and they need to keep as much of the ORIGINAL concept intact as they can.
Plus, he is much better as the friend of the contestants than I think he would be criticizing them… I can't even picture that!

Actually after reading the ideas, I have to agree Elton John would be a real good substitute. He has that bitchy side to him and would tell it like it is in a very entertaining manner, and obviously he is a way talented musician.

This sounds like a trainwreck of an idea. I think the show is finished without Simon anyway.
I think it would be interesting to add Gene Simmons to the mix…

I do agree that they need a huge, music legend to fill the void. I can't wait to see Ellen judge Idol because I love her and know she'll be great. In order to fill Simon's spot they will need a huge, important musician. I'm thinking Cher would rawk! She would be brutally honest with every contestant.

I think having Ellen in AI will make the show interesting, in a way already. I admit Simon leaving AI would definitely make a HUGE difference though. Ryan should just remain as the host!

Another idea would be to get an Idol, like Kelly Clarkson / Carrie Underwood / David Cook.
The male judges would be outnumbered, however.

Benji & Joel Madden - They were guest judges on Australian Idol season just past and they were great. They gave really good critism and guidance.

As much as I'd like to see Cyndi Lauper on the panel, they would need another male to keep the balance. And another Brit would be great. I do think Pappa Elton John is the best choice.
Does anyone seriously think this show will survive without Simon Cowell? Adding Ryan Seacrest to the judge panel will be as futile as taking a piss in the wind. Simon is unique and in my opinion, He IS American Idol. Next!

The only way Idol will work next season is if they cast an unknown with a sharp tongue, nobody ever heard of Simon before Idol….it could happen again. Ryan will not be a judge that would just be silly and desperate. Why does he take such gay looking pictures?, he actually looks fug.
