Saint Angelina & Brad Support Haiti
In the aftermath of the terrible earthquake that hit Haiti yesterday, many celebrities have started doing all they can to support relief efforts.
Always ones to lend a hand, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt released a statement this morning, promising to do all they could for Haiti. The statement reads:
"We are devastated by the news from Haiti. We will work closely with our good friend Wyclef Jean to support the humanitarian efforts on the island and help those who have been injured and left without homes and shelter."
Follow their example and please do all you can to help those in need in Haiti.

Although I like Brad and Angelina and appreciate their efforts to help, their effort to help is NOT better than that of the person struggling to provide for his or her family but who donates his or her last $5 to help someone else. We ALL need to help, whether we are celebs or non-celebs…All of the efforts are needed and all of the efforts are equal in their importance!

The devastation is far more basic than that. They need help digging people out while they're still alive.
The lack of drinking water, let alone food or shelter, for thousands who already have nothing, should prompt anyone who is able, to give to the Red Cross.
To #41 - They are trying to find solutions for themselves, and had picked themselves up and were making good strides after the last few recent hurricanes; but they're going to need drinking water and food and shelter to do that. Much of their telecommunications are down, and many roads are said to be a mess.

In such a trying time for us Haitians, it is nice to see someone that cares so much for himself and others putting his best foot forward. I mean it's not just the U.S that is donating time, materials, and efforts. I remember during 9-11 how other countries donated the same to this country. I also remember during Katrina the same happened. Obviously you and other people such as yourself does not comprehend. Doctors go into debt to save lives. Cops face death to protect you. Firefighters charge into burning buildings for people like you. Your parents, would've gone into debt to help you. This is the human condition. It is love, that makes us put ourselves in harms way be it physically or financially, to help others. I pray you never find yourself in a situation that calls for help of a stranger, and they have to think about what is more important. Getting their $200 pants dirty or saving a life.

Katrina was horrible, there's not doubt about that, and I feel very sorry for those people, but I don't think it's comparable to Haiti, nor is the current economic crisis. Sure people in the USA have it bad, but not like they way people in Haïti have it bad. The economic crisis doesn't lead to 'piles of corpses' in the streets… And for those saying Haïti should build better houses: you can only build so much from a 2$ sallary…

The idea is not who or how much, but that when we see the suffering of others we feel compelled to respond. That is wherein our humanity lies and having a sense of the urgency of need is one of the ways we measure what we would hope for should we or anyone we love be likewise afflicted. Let us remember those who suffer and be grateful so long as we remain spared from worse than the worse we have ever known. There is always worse — except perhaps until one is buried alive, or disemboweled or has to watch helplessly as one's own child dies horribly. Sorry, I don't mean to sound, you know…But this is not the time for petty, selfish, judgmental remarks. Tragedy should bring out something better than that in the rest of us who, at least for the time being, have been spared from that which we may any one of us at another time be vulnerable.
Wow! They "released a statement"? Whatever happen to the good ol' days when there was a snow storm and you would go out and shovel your walk and the old lady next doors too..? Would you make a statement to her about shoveling her walk? I mean that's great that they help so many disasters in this world, but do they have to report to the press everytime they do so? There are thousands and thousands of us Americans who help out other countries and not with just money. We actually go there and pick up dead bodies, help wounded ppl,and feed the hungry.
