Fantasia Has A Hit!

Fantasia for Real, the new reality show that follows American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino, actually has viewers - and quite a few!
The series premiere brought in 2.3 million viewers, making it the #2 non-sports original cable series for the day. And that's a big accomplishment for VH1.
Barrino is releasing her third album in March and will return to star in The Color Purple when the musical hits El Lay.
"She is a unique talent who, like Celie, the lead character she plays in the show, has her own set of personal struggles and challenges," said Purple producer, Scott Sanders. "But, just as Celie does in Purple, I know that Fantasia will always face her challenges head on and triumph over any obstacles put in her way."
For Real follows the singer as she struggles to balance her career, family and the difficulties of being a single mother.

Fantasia may may have been through plenty, but to compare her to Alice Walker's Celie is a bit of a stretch and indeed more of an ad for the show.

Ugh Fantasia got how many views??!! When I first saw the commercials for this show, my first thought was that it was VH1's copy cat version of Kesha Cole's BET show. Its got a similar premise, a singer whose had it hard, a free loading loser-ass family, etc. I can't watch this shit either. Seriously, she needs to give some of those family members the boot and make their asses get jobs. Really, is she so successful that she can continue to throw money away like that? I was really surprised to see that she had that kind of money in the first place. Wasn't she on the verge of losing her mansion recently? Whatever though, this is obviously a desperate attempt at holding on to whatever fame and career she thinks she has.

Love Fantasia! She is a gifted singer and as a performer, she is dynamite. Don't care if her hair looks crazy or she loses or gains weight. I watched the first show and found it entertaining. I'll be watching next week as well. Not sure why people just love to hate on her.

Love Fantasia. Her voice is stellar. She is a fantastic performer. Watched the show and will watch it again. I see no reason for people to "hate" on her, the way some do.
