The Silver Fox To Host A Telethon For Haiti
Sources are reporting that George Clooney has struck a deal with MTV Networks to host a telethon to raise money for the people of Haiti next Friday.
The telethon would be broadcasted across all of the network's channels and George is supposedly inviting many of his close celebrity friends and performers to participate from both coasts. We're told that he has already snagged his first act while at a reception for his movie Up in the Air at the Monkey Bar last night. Sting and his wife Trudie Styler were there and when George asked him to perform, Sting replied, “Where do I go?”
That's one! And no doubt, with the clout George has in this industry, it won't be long before he has dozens offering their help.
It's nice to see people step up and do the right thing.

Do the right thing? There will ALWAYS be earthquakes and natural disasters elsewhere. But until we take care of our own, I resent sending help to Haiti. There are still displaced people in New Orleans. There are people losing their homes here daily because they can't find jobs. How dare Obama promise aid to Haiti when he can't even provide jobs for his own people!

We all have to step up. The situation in Haiti is so dire it is positively heartbreaking. If you have never donated to a charity before now is the time to do it. 5 bucks, 10 bucks whatever you can spare.

Re: Novel1 – Give me a break. I agree we have lots of work to do here at home, but the scale of the Haitian Disaster is massive. Should we just sit on our hands while a nation so geographically close to our own suffers. The world is acting and America will/would join them not matter what party is/was in the White House.

Re: Desideratum – How could anyone have a problem with George or anybody pitching in? If everyone does their bit, then many hands make for lighter work. If people would sooner help America, the Salvation Army and the food banks are ready and waiting for your donations. I plan to help both, with Haiti being the most critically in need.
Be very careful with your donations, folks. Remember the last time these birds ran a telethon and nobody ever could figure out where the money went? Charities can be a big ripoff. Always investigate the charity before you donate.
Most of this money will dissapear just like the 911 telethon…
