Clay Aiken's upcoming album on his new record label Decca Records is set to be released this coming summer.
He's not going in the pop music direction but taking on romantic classic songs from the '50s and '60s. Tracks include "Moon River," "What Kind Of Fool Am I?," "Mack the Knife," and "Can't Take My Eyes Off You."
Yawn.
Rod Stewart just did something like this…and probably better!

I was a huge fan of his a couple of years ago. Not so much anymore, and this new album won't help.

Aiken's demographic has always been older. But, if what you post above is true, then all I'll say is that's what he should have done to begin with - go with an album of covers. I don't know why he tried to make himself into this pop star. I think it's partly because, when Idol first came out, the emphasis was on pop music, top 40, etc. But, people like Aiken singing cover songs/classics. This will attract the same crowd that bought Susan Boyle's CD. Jennifer Hudson should go in the same direction; she's much better covering other people's songs.
Another desperate attempt by an Idol contestant to cash in on rehashing old classics just to try and revive what's left of their 15 minutes. He has no appeal, so he should be perfect for your record label douchebag. How's that Slimy bastard doing by the way? Still think he's what the public wants? lmao. FINALLY!! I've been waiting for him to do an album of standards since his Idol days. (And I'm 24)! This is where he shines. Good for him for choosing this route.

Actually, this is EXACTLY the type of album he should be doing….for his voice AND audience. And no, Rod Stewart's version was NOT better, unless you are inclined to feel that a recording of cats in heat is "easy listening". You go, Clay, and don't let these no-talent, wanna be music hipsters bring you down.
He's taylored it to his older remaining fans. Not a great move since everybody else and their cousin has done a record of old standards. He should be begging Lady Gaga to write a song for him. Then again, if his fans step up to the plate and buy his CD in droves it will look to the record company that he can still sell CD's. Will be interesting to see what happens.

oh lord. he can't release an album until he releases a single first. otherwise it's just going to be a major flop.
Clay is Clay..people fell in love with him on Idol because he sang Classic songs. No he is not Adam or any other pop or rock star. But he is original in his style and this is a good idea for him. He will appeal to those who enjoy the oldies that are sung well.. nothing wrong with that. He will appeal to a certain demographic and that is okay. To each his own…he does have a beautiful voice and those who want to listen will. Just like any other artist. Personally I love the oldies and I look forward to hearing them sung by someone who can actually sing! Decca is a good choice for him because their performers are unique and special, just like Clay! Good for him!

excuse me. I am a young fan. 26 years old. I love clay, have loved him since he sang Dont let the sun go down on me on AI. I'm not an obsessed fan, but I am a fan. I love all kinds of music. Clay has and never will look like a girl. he is HOT. why does Perez Hilton always rag on clay? I think he is jealous that people love clay more than him. all he can do is rag on celebrities and make fun of them. thats ll he is good at. we don't need crap people like him.
