Leave Jay Leno alone. He has nothing to do with this decision. It was the network's decision. These decisions are made all the time in the broadcast television industry. It's business! If the ratings aren't there it's time to pull the plug. Low ratings = loss of advertisers = loss of money. It's the nature of the beast and if they can't deal with it, get out of the industry. Simple as that.
I am kind of surprised by all these comments…do you really think Jay was surprised by this 'attack'. It's his show and he knew exactly what Kimmel would say, don't think for a second Kimmel pulled any fast ones there. This is all PR. It was scripted and it it made me remeber why Leno was #1. He is funny and has a sense of humor even about himself. BTW/ Conan's a great guy but his shows have never been very funny. If someone can do your job better you get canned. enough said

This was scripted for the purpose of getting these jokes done and over. Funnymen like fresh material. Once a joke is out there, the name of the game is to not be a repeater. Kind of what celebrity blogging used to be about (I miss those days). The jokes around this fiasco will run out and then they can work on damage control and put a different spin on it.

This was NOT scripted. Leno's people always send the questions to the guests in advance but he does not know how they will answer. If you notice, Leno only gave him one late night question (at the top) and then gave him a bunch of dumb questions about stupid stuff that had nothing to do w the current scandal. Jimmy geniusly made Qs about strippers and buying crap on TV about Jay screwing over Leno. Very well played sir. Leno was def. uncomfortable.

So funny! Jimmy Kimmel is really good friends with Howard Stern and NOBODY hates Jay more than Howard! So, there must be some truth to that even if scripted. I don't even crack a smile during Jay's show…he's just so unfunny. I never understood how he consistently beat Letterman, who I think is much funnier. This was a terrible way to treat Conan…and Kimmel was definitely repeating some stuff that Howard Stern, his good friend, always says. I don't think all of this was scripted at ALL. Jay had to know there would be some jabs because Jimmy made fun of him earlier in the week, but I don't think he had any idea that EVERY answer would be a jab…he looked very uncomfortable. I was watching it live last night and couldn't believe it!

It may sound stupid but I relate to this situation because I recently got laid off after 12 years at my job for really stupid reasons. Even though I know Conan is rich and doesn't need to worry about money it still stings and must be a very hard thing to deal with in the public eye. I hope his staff get taken care of.

What do you mean Jay has nothing to do with this decision? That statement makes no sense. He may not have had anything to do with the decision to cancel The Jay Leno Show, but he certainly isn't being forced into going back to The Tonight Show. He could simply have declined the offer, out of respect to Conan and his staff. And so he doesn't come off looking like a self-centered, Indian-giving asshole. THAT'S the decision that has everybody calling Jay a douchebag.
