We can't imagine!

Wyclef Jean is currently in his native Haiti doing everything possible to help the demolished city of Port-Au-Prince. The singer shared his recent efforts, comparing the devastation to the apocalypse.

He said:

"We spent the day picking up dead bodies, all day that's what we did. There's so much bodies in the streets that the morgues are filled up, the cemeteries are filled up. So we participated in picking up the bodies and finding a place that we could put the bodies."

Tragic.

Such a horrible situation out there, but we are so quick to help other countries when they need us, I just hope that when we are need that other countries will contribute to the US. Also we have so many problems here, I think they should fix some problems here before they start fixing problems elsewhere.

My sister is in the Army and she was sent over to help. She was stationed in N.C. I can't even imagine seeing what she is seeing right now. She is 19 and i doubt i'll ever see a horrible sight like that, ever in my life.

Im glad to see Wyclef is down there trying to do something hands on. Looking at the images on the news is absolutly heartbreaking. I`ll be donating to doctors without borders. My thoughts are with you Haiti..

Wyclef Jean's charity is hardly reputable to the full extent. Had not paid taxes for 4 years. Many payments are "questionable." You might be paying for the next tour date or to fly first class.

Has anyone seen the "Smoking Gun" documents talking about how shady Wyclef's charity's accounting practices have been? I would be leery about giving any $ to his organization.

So sad, atleast he's doing something, he's helping. Unlike you, who all you can do is bitch about how "other" people are not helping. Good for Wyclef.

Such a tragedy. Shame on all the people who have been saying the Haitians brought this on themselves by being devil worshippers, selling their souls, etc. This is such an awful thing that has happened to a nation that already has so little, and my heart goes out to them.

Tragic. When will Wyclef get a humanitarian award for the work he'd been doing throughout the years?

What do Haitians do with the hundreds of millions of dollars they illegally earn in the US each year and don't pay taxes on? It doesn't go into into new construction or maintainable of infrastructure.

      heartbreaking.

    13. 13

So much suffering. Really sad. Americans are spoiled.

    14. 14

it's beyond hell i donated every penny i had i wish i could do more

    15. 15

What has "Wyclef" (dumb name) done for Haiti? Nothing, he's an asshole. What has Haiti done for the good ol' USA? Nothing, I don't care what happens in that rathole. They can pave the roads with the dead bodies for all I care. Fuck Haiti.

Re: jessicatandyismyhero – This is clearly Obamas Katrina, he is completely responsible for the death and destruction. He has fucked this one up big time. Makes W look like a piker.

    17. 17

There's more people dead then alive out there. This is gonna be like the Hurricane Katrina disaster

I think for people to be writing anything negative about this situation or others efforts to bring relief to innocent people is really digusting.
EVERY nation has its issues and citizens who have done bad things…Haiti is no different, neither is the USA, or any other nation on this planet. But should be punish the entire nation for the actions of some? No. We need to show compassion to everyone who needs it, whether they are in Haiti, the USA, or anywhere that help is needed.
This is not a time for being callous or hurtful…it is a time to show love to our fellow humans.
Peace and love to everyone on here…xo

Re: jessicatandyismyhero – Um, F**k you. You have no idea what I have done to help. I wasn't "bitching" I was stating a matter of what appears to be fact. That this guy is taking $ under possible false pretenses. Someone that asks for money under the guise of helping those in need, yet uses it for his own personal gain, should raise questions.

The issue with Haiti is a corrupt government. Most of the money the U.S. has given to Haiti over the past 20 years has been squandered or is unaccounted for. I agree with the poster who said we have our own problems in this country. We help the world time and time again and get nothing in return. That said, I think people should donate what they want and what they can afford. Just choose the charity carefully. Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders seem to be the two most reputable ones that I've heard talked about.

Re: sparkydoggie1 – It is so sad to read how you feel. I have seen streets fill with children and newborns. I am a mother of 2 and I can not imagen my life with out them what you have said is just horrible.

    22. 22

Re: PrinceD – Thanks for giving but I hope you did not empty your pockets to Jean's Yele Haiti. If you did, what's done is done. But next time, particularly if giving your last dime, give to a professionally run organization. Your money will stand to go much, much farther.

    23. 23

Re: perfectjenn – Get over yourselves, you're not the only country helping.

    24. 24

hm. been hearing some extremely disturbing things regarding his shady charity.

    25. 25

and btw haiti was a shithole before all this, and itll be one after this is over. its a nation of uneducated, illiterate, weak-minded, immoral, nefarious ingrates. 5% of the adult population has the hiv, diseases like tb and cholera are rampant. they have cut down almost all of the natural forest, which is turning the island into a desert. but really, what can you expect from a nation made up exclusively of poor blacks? we, as in the world, gives them aid, helps them out…but do they ever WORK to help themselves, to improve their country and their conditions?? HELL NO!! and situations like the current one are unfortunately what you get; a disaster waiting to happen.

    26. 26

and how fucking DARE you say that americans are spoiled. americans are HARD WORKING, and we have EARNED and FOUGHT FOR everything that we have, it was not just HANDED to us. not to mention we fucking GIVE AND GIVE AND GIVE to the whole entire fucking world, and to goodfornothing piece of shit countries like haiti, and get nothing in return but a knife in the back. SO F-U-C-K YOU IMBECILES THAT THINK OTHERWISE!

    27. 27

Re: perfectjenn – If we fixed all of our problems before we helped others we would never help. And I think something as horrific as a earthquake which killed 200,000 people warrants helping as much as we can no matter what state we are in. It's not like it is so bad in the U.S. right now that we can't help out. Sheesh! Selfish much?

    28. 28

Re: perfectjenn – BTW Haiti (the poorest country in the southern hemisphere) gave us $50,000 right after hurricane Katrina!!

    29. 29

. I wish i could go and help but i can't because i have to go to school :(

    30. 30

Re: perfectjenn – I have to agree with you if we were to need help who is going to help us? I too feel sorry for those who have died and the families that are suffering but I don't know if it is such a good idea for us to pour so many resources into this when there are other big countries who can afford it better than we can right now. But I guess Obama wants to watch the brother's back! I still can't get over that Obama talked to Tiger Woods with so many other most crucial things going on with our country but again that is what I call watching the brother's back. I don't care what Tiger has donated to help Haiti I still think it is a PR. thing for his own problems but my ? is: Is Obama going to talk to everyone that is donating and helping this country out? Doubt it because he is going to only watch the brother's back again. I am beginning to think having him in office was a bigggg mistake!! I am sure white, black, brown, whoever is starting to feel the same way about our President.
