Conan "Worried About Staff"

Someone should be! NBC sure as hell doesn't seem to care!

Being the stand-up guy that he is, Conan O'Brien is insisting that his staff be taken care off, no matter what his outcome is with NBC. Many of his staffers switched coasts to work with Conan on The Tonight Show, and he thinks they are getting the worst end of this deal, having moved 3,000 miles only to get shafted.

Conan's rep says that Conan's priority in the proceedings with NBC has always been his staff and that it will be a "dealbreaker" if they aren't taken care of.

A lot of the staff was reportedly angry that Conan didn't accept the 12:05 time slot, just to keep all of their jobs, but Conan's rep insists that the staff won't be overlooked if and when Conan leaves.

Do U think Jay Leno has any remorse over this?

Leno has no remorse for this… Areyou kidding? all he cares about is his ego, his millions and his stupid car collection.

    2. 2

      take care OF not OFF!

    3. 3

I love Conan and I know he will make sure his staff does not get the shaft. As bad as I think Leno is acting, I still believe he DOES care for Conan's staff.

    4. 4

conan has a heart, and he was worried about his crew making the move to the west coast. i didnt believe a previous storya bout staffers being upset with conan. bc he always seems to have his crew's best interest at heart. im su re itll all work out, these people won't be unemployed

    5. 5

thank you for getting the story RIGHT this time!

      TEAM COCO!!!

Why should Leno have any remorse over it!!?? It's not his fault Conan isn't as funny and therefore can't keep his show. And maybe NBC could have handled this all better, but so could Conan. I'm all for standing up for yourself, but he really laid it on the table a bit too quickly if you ask me. I think if there were any chances of a peaceful outcome he may have blown them with his little on air tantrums and letters.

I work for Conan on the new tonight show and I am personally getting tired of all these reports saying his crew is angry with him, or upset or whatever. This is just not true.

Conan has over 80 people and families that he is taking into account in his decision making process. We have all talked about it and we all back Conan in his decision. We are actually proud to have a boss with class and conviction, who wasn't willing to change or deface an entertainment institution such as The Tonight Show.

Yes I understand that technically NBC pays our budget which pays our salaries but, we did not come out here for NBC, we did so for Conan.

    8. 8

If he's so worried about his staff he could cough up some of the $30 million he's getting from NBC!

    9. 9

I'm glad to see that Conan is concerned about his staff but I wouldn't expect any less from someone as classy as Conan.

    10. 10

      jay leno has zero remorse.

    11. 11

Jay Leno dont give two hoots about his or conan or anyone's employees… don't you remember he was the first one to SCAB during the strike with the writers guild. Jay's true colors are finally showing. scumb bag that he is.

    12. 12

      Re: Brownin

I so agree. Jay has never had any class, and now the world can see what a douche he really is.

People keep saying Conan couldn't make it on the Tonight show, lets remember that Jay's show was bombing too.

    13. 13

I work for the show as well. Check your sources Perez.

    14. 14

      Oh yeah right, he's worried.
How many tens of millions is he getting in this deal? Why doesn't he give half to his staff? Will NBC even give them 10 grand each? Whatever they get will be small fry and they all have families that they moved across the country for this. Also, most of them will be unemployed and a lot of them will never be able to work in this field again. They were employed for Conan forever and have nowhere else to go! I can bet that most of his staff are stressed out and not sleeping at night worried about their finances!
He's a selfish, proud asshole that is only thinking about his big payout!
Karma is a bitch and he will be taken care of by life through bad illnesses and huge life problems for being so egotistical!

    15. 15

Its NBC that does not care …lets go back to the beginning …when they moved Leno to 10 ..and they cancelled the primetime shows ..( to save money ) … actors ,writers .crew were all fired . ..Now they have to sart all over again …replace the shows they cancelled and pay off Coco to get him gone …and put things back ….the way they were . Conan got screwed

    16. 16

Conan's staff is getting screwed because of CONAN AND HIS HUGE EGO. He's getting $30 million…if he's so worried about them, he's got plenty of cash to help them out. And, we all know that ain't gonna happen!

    17. 17

If Conan feels so bad perhaps he can donate some of that 30 mil he's getting to the staff

    18. 18

jay leno is a f*cktard. i think he has some sort of psychological problems. seems to be very superficial and doesn't play well with others. more interested in his car collection than he is about people. just a weirdo.

    19. 19

Didn't Conan have horrible ratings before all of this? Why not let him stay and when/if the show tanks in a year or so, then bring Jay back? Or, dump both of them because they both make too much money to be acting like cry babies.

    20. 20

Leno is not responsible for Conan's staff, he is responsible for his own staff. Why should Leno feel any more remorse than any of us do when people lose their jobs? Leno is taking care of his own staff by accepting the 11:35 p.m. slot. If Conan had accepted the 12:05 a.m slot as offered, his staff would not be losing their jobs.

    21. 21

David Letterman, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien. In that order people. David was there first, jay then conan. Seniority…..ya know!!!!!????? They are all talented.
For the kind of money Conans making he needs to suck it up. Why is it that red headed people always do this grandstanding bs?

    22. 22

Like I said we have a very close family friend who is one of his producers. I hope everything turns out alright for everyone!

Why should Leno have remorse. NBC and Conan started all this 6 years ago. It's not like Leno ever wanted to retire. He was pushed out due to Conan thinking he was bigger then he was and NBC agreeing at the time.

    24. 24

EVERYONE needs to email Zucker and Ebersole and tell them what MOST of the REAL world thinks.

That they are complete IDIOTS. And ask which one of them is sleeping with Leno.

To have the audacity to blame Conan for any of this just shows how OUT OF TOUCH they are.

Leno is an ass and I hope he FALLS of his KING ROCKer as fast as he has fallen out of favor with ALL of NBC viewers.

It's too bad COMCAST's purchase of NBC from GE hasn't been finalized yet. The solution to this problem is so simple for COMCAST. First fire Jeff Zuker for supreme incompetence and without any Golden Parachute. Then give Conan and everyone on his staff a 25% raise for "pain and suffering" plus Fridays off at full pay. T…hen hire Jay Leno as the substitute host for Friday's "The Tonight Show with CONAN O'BRIEN"

    26. 26

Leno doesn't give a shit about anything but himself and his ugly assed cars.

    27. 27

Re: mogey182 – - actually, a more accurate statement would be that 'the advertisers pay the salaries' - sadly, the advertisers were bailing from Conan's version of "The Tonight Show' and this is a numbers game - the interest of the bottom line ALWAYS wins, and when you don't make your numbers, well…….. Leno's 10 p.m. show performed to expected standards (broke even) and met the financial criteria, BUT it's the local affiliates who complained about Leno's poor lead in to their news. Had they not revolted, all would still be fine in "Late Night Land." Leno is not to blame in this debacle - nor is O'Brien - both are stellar talents. This debacle lies squarely at the feet of the decision makers at NBC. Interestingly enough, I believe that if Conan would have been allowed to do The Tonight Show from the EAST COAST, this might have had a different outcome - but once again, this was an economic decision (a bad one!). I feel for every single staffer who had to relocate for this mess. And Conan is known to be a stand up guy (no pun intended) - it goes without saying that he'd think of everyone else before himself. That's just who he is!

    28. 28

………….. another interesting resolve to this mess would have been - a six month experience, culminating in May sweeps (hey, the voting premise works for Idol - let's take that workable model to late night):

      Monday/Wednesday nights for Leno
      Tueday/Thursday nights for Conan
      Friday nights: Carson Classic Reruns

(with the exception of Friday): ratings tallied and whomever wins the ratings race gets the slot full time. If nothing else, it would TEMPORARILY INCREASE

    29. 29

      Conan's the shit man!

    30. 30

I agree these staff members are the only one we should be worried about. Conan will get work no matter what. Although the situation suck for Conan he will be just fine. The crew on the other hand don't make nearly as much and probably live check to check.

It took so long for this to be mentioned that it looks like an afterthought, even if it might not be.
