Conan Will Triumph Over The Peacock!

resized_imwithcoco.jpg

The Tonight Show's ratings have soared since Conan O'Brien's debacle with NBC due to their love affair with Leno. On Friday, viewership increased by 50%, beating out David Letterman.

"People who never watched Conan before are saying, 'I'll try it,"' said Conan's manager, Gavin Polone. "Now they're saying, 'This is good, I'll stick with it."'

And it's sweet vindication for them, but his exit won't be that easy!

Difficult negotiations between NBC and the Conester involve the characters that he's created during his time at the network, such as Triumph, the Pimpbot 5000 and the Masturbating Bear.

Classics!

Cones wants to take them with him wherever he goes and he might - but not without conceding to some other points! It's rumored that an iron clad non-disparagement clause may be involved.

Too bad. We all wanna hear the real shiz about NBC!

Wouldn't it be simpler to let Conan have the Tonight Show.
Reduce Leno to 2 nights a week on the Network and also give Leno shows on the sister cable networks.

Think Monday on USA, Move wresting to 8pm and let Leno go live from the end of the wrestling show (which always runs long) and 11pm
      Tuesday on NBC at 10pm
      Wednesday on NBC at 10pm
Thursday doing Top Gear type show on one of the networks (maybe even working with the BBC who owns Top Gear).
Friday on MSNBC doing only interviews.

HA! In Gavin's dreams! When Conan's gone, everything will go back to the way it was before he came in a tanked The Tonight Show. I wonder where all these supposed Conan fans were the last 7 months when his ratings were in the toilet? Conan will NEVER be a force in late night, he's already proven that so get over it already!!!

I'm just shocked that with wanting to capture the 18-49 market, they would opt to put gray-haired old Jay back on. He had his day and the only thing that was ever funny about his show was "Headlines", which were basically written by other people and sent in to him. A lot of his humor was regurgitated. He needs to step OUT.

    8. 8

Oh, one more thing, if they people LOVE Jay that much, how about his half-hour show being shown in-between Conan and Jimmy? or wouldn't they stay up to watch him then?

    9. 9

he's great, Leno sucks, I hope NBC gets burned bad by this

—Um this has been going on for what, a week? How can he claim that people are "sticking with it"?

    11. 11

people are watching because of the controversy… NOT because they love conan. jay's ratings have been up too.

    12. 12

It only went up because people tuned in to see what is going on in the war and what Conan would say.
Not because they like Conan, idiot.

    13. 13

Conan is a boob. He's just today's train wreck that everyone has to see.

    14. 14

      Can't stand Conan………….GOOD RIDDANCE!

    15. 15

The best is yet to come for Conan, who cares if they seize the rights to Triumph and all the other stuff, he'll just come up with newer, better stuff. I hope he takes Andy with him!!! and the band….

Conan will be a success wherever he goes because his fans will follow him.Jay is boring as hell and his show will tank.

    17. 17

I have always been a huge Conan fan. I used to watch him every night when he hosted Late Night. I will say that I haven't watched him very much since he started hosting The Tonight Show but that has nothing to do with me not liking him, or me not thinking he is funny anymore. It just has to do with me being busier and forgetting his show is on an hour earlier. Conan will always have a ton of fans even if his ratings are low. Conan can interview the most boring celebrity and make it funny. Not many other talk show hosts can do that.

The nastier it gets, the more the vultures pull their chairs up. It will go away.

    19. 19

wow this is just a whole goverment scheme… didnt know you were on it to. so sad.

    20. 20

Am I the only one who loved Conan for what he was before the Tonight Show? A hilarious 'Late Night' host, one who I watched whenever I was awake during his time slot?

I greatly enjoy Conan, as I do Letterman. They are both incredibly whitty comedians, and can make the most out of an interview (any interview), whereas Leno never could.

Leno could always deliver "Ross the Intern" or "Jay Walking," but he wasn't incredibly fun in interviews, as a person.

In summation, Leno had great writers and does well because of them, while he doesn't do very well on his own. On the other side of things, Letterman and O'brien do well during interviews, or anytime they're on the fly.

I've been watching Conan for ages. I live in Australia so I worry that if he leaves NBC they won't show his new show over here :(

    22. 22

I just don't get why people care about Conan, Leno or Letterman…all three appeal to very boring demographics and to people who like their humor cheap and tacky…Conan stands to take home 40 million dollars…save the crocodile tears for someone who matters…

    23. 23

      Leno is a scumbag.

    24. 24

I don't know why Conan is bitching so much. He's getting $30 million out of this!

    25. 25

I'm looking forward to Conan's next move. I will not watch the Tonight Show once Jay comes back.

    26. 26

Right now I hate NBC. I can find another channel to watch. That is dirty rotten crap they are doing to Conan. I would watch Conan before Leno anyday. I Love you Conan!!

    27. 27

Leno is a SCUMBAG!!!! I usually only catch Coco a couple times a week but since the backstabbing happened, I set Coco on my Tivo to show my support.

    28. 28

Conan is boring. Who cares? Not me.
