John Travolta Helps Haiti
John Travolta, a qualified pilot himself, has arranged for a plane to fly to Haiti to help the earthquake victims.
"I have arranged for a plane to take down some volunteer ministers and some supplies and some medics," Travolta said. "I hope that inspires others as well. It's needed."
John joins fellow celebrities in their efforts for Haiti including George Clooney who has organized the Hope For Haiti TV fundraising event that will air on January 22.
George has asked Bono, Justin Timberlake and Alicia Keys to perform and he will co-host the event with Wyclef Jean.
We love seeing celebs doing good and we hope you're doing what you can to help, too!

FYI Haiti is asking people NOT to come as the country cannot handle an influx of people at this time…I think what these celebrities are doing is great but they NEED to read up on what the country REALLY needs at this time not just do what THEY think Haiti needs.
it's so ironic watching those rescue workers frantically trying to pull someone out of the rubble, only so she can return to her life as a sex slave who turns tricks for food and has HIV and 11 children and no hope and no quality of life at all, best-case lifespan of 59 years of struggle and deprivation….or rescued only to be shot the next day for looting. or rescued to die a week later of cholera. and she's one of the lucky ones. those people have plastic bags for beds if they are fortunate. hospitals? not many. and the deeper irony is that this is the country's CAPITAL, where the most "prosperous" are — the ones in rural Haiti, who were NOT lucky enough to have an earthquake, will get no aid at all. well, other than what they get already. I can just see the relief workers "We brought cardboard so we can rebuild your shanty" or "Here's some old flannel, so you can fix your hovel." All these rich people flooding in. These people needed help ALREADY, and so do the victims of the 2005 quake in Kashmire, which was BIGGER and worse (freezing, landslides, 250,000 dead). and on it goes. and stupid "ribbons," yeah, those really help bandage a head or move a concrete block or stop an infection! yeah! those people don't need god, not anyone's god. heck, the people in New Orleans are still living in squalor.
Why not sell your planes and give the money to FINCA and Oxfam and Heifer International and Doctors Without Borders? Asshole.

Anything no matter how large or small that anyone does to try to help others should be recognized with grace and appreciation - not with stupid comments about a person's religion.

It's all BS, when these celebrities put on these shows it costs enough to feed these people and get them medical aid for probably a year! This is just another excuse to party, and it makes me sick. Any effort is to be commended. When there is a genuine desire to help then that in itself is a positive thing.
However - not every gesture of help is going to have the same impact.
When John Travolta sends 'Volunteer ministers', this is only serving $cientology.
These poor people don't need religious help, and they certainly don't need help from a very thinly-disguised CULT.
They need people to donate money to Doctors Without Borders or the International Red Cross - then you can be sure your money is used to directly help people affected by this tragedy, and not to entice those most in need to join their particular religion.

The news said its better if they give money because there are such huge problems with distribution and landing people in the small runways, so while this is a nice gesture he should really just donate the money to an aid agency like Doctors Without Borders instead.

Why is here taken Ministers? Thats not what the ppl in Haiti need! I hope all these celebs who are being very vocal about how MUCH they are doing to help, keep on helping and donating once the hype has died down. Right now it is THE glamorous cause for them to be seen to be supporting. Next month it could be something else. Haiti was already an incredibly poor and disadvantaged country largely ignored and I hope it won't be forgotten about by all these American celebs in a few months.
