Idiot!

This morning, tennis star, Anna Kornikova, got the news that her mother, Alla Kournikova, was arrested for child neglect after she left Anna's 5 year old half-brother, Allan, home alone.

That wouldn't have been so terrible, except that he is only 5 years old and more so, the little guy jumped out of a second story window! He landed on the sidewalk where neighbors found the boy waling in pain and bleeding. The police were called and when Alla arrived back at the house, she was arrested.

She tried to explain to the officers that the house was completely locked before she left, even with a deadbolt, and that she was gone for only an hour, but there really is no excuse for being an awful parent.

Thankfully, the boy is OK, but he is in the hospital right now.

Anna, you better go over and have a talk with your mom. Set her straight!

she's russian no? i know it must have happened in the states but in europe and in russia it is quite normal to leave your children home alone at that age for short periods of time. she's not a bad mother, she's just a product of where she grew up.

      Next doughboy!!!!!!!!!!

      Stupid kid.

My dad and mom used to leave me home alone as a 5 year-old. In fact, they left me home alone in the evenings (out of necessity) for hours at a time until I officially became a teenager. It didn't make them awful parents. It made them responsible parents who realized that sometimes life isn't fair and you have to take care of other things to ensure the survival of the family. It also allowed me to work out my fear of loneliness and monsters from an early age, making me a braver person today. Perez, considering you will never be a parent, you should not act as if you're an expert. When it comes to parenting, shut the fuck up homo.

She's European, they have a different way of managing their children. Some would say that the kids grow up to be more responsible, less coddled than their American peers.

But, she lives here now, and has to follow the rules here. Also, it differs in every state how young a child can be before you leave them at home, and in some places I don't think there's even a stated age… I don't think this makes her a bad mother, just someone with a different background. ANd, let's face it… kids have stupid accidents like that even when their parents are in the next room.

When I was 11 I saw a little 4 year old fall from a fourth story window. He bounced twice. AND It turned out that he was left home alone. My point is that kids are dumb and so they should never be left alone. Age 0-26 must have responsible eye's keep on them all the time.

    9. 9

I shudder to think of the things my 5 year-old could get himself into in that 1 hour time frame!

    10. 10

BTW Enrique should come and do me, just for that!

    11. 11

she should have had the window locked too! what an idiot.

My child is 6 and the corner store is connected to my house. I won’t even go there and grab milk without her. Children’s mind capacity to be left alone for more than 5 minutes is ridiculous. What’s going through their mind is “What horrible things can I get into while my mom’s not here in the next 30 seconds” while your backs turned. Leaving them home for an hour? Come on!

    13. 13

No child of five years old should be left alone for an hour. So much can go wrong. Sad.

    14. 14

cdoc is right, the woman is from another country and that is what is done in other countries. Hell, when I was younger, I was left alone for an hour or so when I was six or seven when I was sick and my mother needed to go to the store-she was a widow and had no one to watch me. locked the door and left me. unfortunately for this woman, her five year old is dumb as mud, jumping out a 2nd story window. (yes, there could have been a fire, but what are the chances, they could have also been in a car accident)

    15. 15

"I was only gone for an hour" is also what people say when they intentionally leave babies in hot cars. Some people are just not thinking when it comes to little kids being home alone. They will get into something in that time frame.

    16. 16

what an idiot.. I think the most troubling thing is not that he fell out the window..but the fact that he was home alone and she locked (deadbolted) her five year old son inside. What if there was a fire? he wouldnt be able to escape..you never know if a 5 year old would know to go to the window, or even if the fire was blocking the window. He would be a 5 year old burnt to ashes with a bad smell. he coulda thanked his mom.

    17. 17

5 is too young to be home alone, even for an hour

    18. 18

How adorable is it that their names start with "a", much like the Kardashians' way of naming the kin with a "K" (except for Mason, apparently).

    19. 19

OMG..Im a mom… That makes me feel ill.. That mother ( if you can call her that) should have her child taken away or have her legs broken so she will never leave the house let alone him alone again. People like that shouldn't have kidz. I think in this day and age you NEED a license to have children…. And the one would are not qualified should be sterilized… SERIOUSLY… Children are a priority not a cash in ( cough cough Umpa Katy Price,Britney and Ashley Simpson) whom should all be sterilized.

The boy is the kind of kid who would jump out the window even if the mother were home. It just happened when she wasn't. I predict there will be only one-story homes in his first house hunting trips.

    21. 21

fuck off stupid americans! it's not normal to leave children alone in europe, so stop prejudicing. yes she was an idiot but it had nothing to do with her nationality. dumbs.

    22. 22

I honestly don't understand the insane obsessing over children's safety in the US. In Europe, it's perfectly normal to leave a child alone in the house for a couple of hours, in primary school I spent many evenings after school alone. I was left alone when it was necessary, and I didn't jump out of windows or do anything stupid. And grew up to be a responsible adult, I can get by on my own and I was not afraid of ghosts or monsters or anything like that. It helps children grow up, you can't baby children until they're 18, or even 13 for that matter, children need to grow up. stop going crazy over nothing.

    23. 23

The issue itself is probably being blown out of proportion, who knows what's normal for them and in other countries, I mean common child labor, and arranged marriages are a bigger issue than this. BUT seriously TENNIS STAR, Anna is beautiful indeed, and is dating my man Enrique but a TENNIS STAR is the biggest joke you've wrote in a while!

    24. 24

5 years old is too young to be left alone. PERIOD. For an hour, or a half hour.
5 year olds do not have the maturity, or the problem-solving skills to respond apppropriately, if something should happen.
That's what PARENTS are for. Shame on Anna's mother .. she should be prosecuted.

    26. 26

Tennis star? WTF are you talking about?

    27. 27

Oh yah, locking your five year old in, all alone is just sooooooooooo safe! Mummies everywhere should use that brilliant trick (insert mega-eye roll.)

    28. 28

Re: cdoc – Since when is an hour a short period of time? And maybe you should ask the McCann's just how safe this practice is, eh?

    29. 29

It may be irresponsible to leave your 5 year-old child alone, but what a stupid kid. He jumped out a second story window?

    30. 30

a five year old home alone?? is she crazy? why do people STILL do this? you can't turn your back on a five year old let alone leave them at home all by themselves. all the things that could happen. swallow something wrong, fall down, choking, start a fire, decide to explore the medicine cabinet, eat or drink something not for children and OMG even jump out a window. think people . think.

    31. 31

Re: Pinkasaurus – probably saw it on tv.

    32. 32
