Cougar Outrage!
An Air New Zealand ad portraying older females AKA cougars going after "their prey" is causing an uproar in the country with many citing the spot as offensive.
New Zealand's Rape Prevention Education director Kim McGregor called the ad "disgusting and degrading" and she says she spoke with employees of Air New Zealand who feel the same. She explains:
"They find it degrading and that it is encouraging potentially harmful behavior, so my question is why is our national carrier promoting sexually predatory behavior? We have also had complaints from male survivors who have been raped by women and they are very distressed that their situation is being laughed at and made out to be humorous."
We don't find it funny or offensive really — just STOOPID!

This advertisement isn't "stoopid", its friggin halerious and i wouldn't expect anyone out of New Zealand to understand how much Air New Zealand has hit certain social aspects of our society right on the head! I am a Kiwi and to be honest with you I don't find the ad offensive at all I think it's hilarious because it's completely irrelevant to Air NZ's branding.

What exactly has this ad got to do with Air New Zealand. Seriously how does this in anyway market them – except from ensuring all woman over the age of 40 don’t fly with them?
And if this is New Zealanders sense of humor (as stated), well I certainly don’t find them funny. I find this ad discriminatory on many levels. In fact it has put me off of ever going there – and definitely never flying with any of their air carriers.

Air NZ was running a promotion where "cougars" were to send in a pic or vid (can't remember which) of them being a cougar to win free flights, hence the relevance of the video.
One could argue that what the eff does a phil collins loving, drumming gorilla have to do with chocolate (or two kids with some crazy arse eyebrow action going on)
I usually don't laugh at you tube or viral videos but I LAUGHED SO HARD at this video. But I have to say it is really long for a commercial and it has nothing to do with an airline.

Anyway I have no idea about New Zealand culture, so I guess I can’t legitimately comment about the ad myself. Clearly it’s normal advertising over there and it really was amusing to New Zealanders, nothing more nothing less.

In Australia, they are very much stuck on the "older man younger woman" mentality - a man and his gf/wife who is 10 years younger is considered the norm. Men do not date women their own age or even a few years younger. When I told an Aussie guy that in Northa America men easily date women their own age and even a bit older he thought I was "delusional". That's how they are over there. Don't know about NZ, but Aussies are like that. I think they are very intimidated by the way times are changing and thus this ad. It's common to mock something you are afraid of and can't control. It's actually a misogynistic ad but it just comes of as weak and insecure instead of offensive.

This ad is offensive to WOMEN, not men. It states that a) women of a certain age are sexual predators seeking young men, b) these women should be punished by stealing their money via identity theft, and c) they all work in the same general capacity (human resources, or whatever the hell the other thing was) big yawn. so freaking hilarious.
