Liza Gets Ugly For Good!
Get ready Ugly Betty fans, the show is about to get a bit crazier.
According to reports, Liza Minnelli will officially be joining the cast of Ugly Betty this season.
Minnelli will be making multiple appearances on the show this season playing Lena Korvinka, Mark Indelicato's high school drama teacher.
An insider reveals:
"There were massive rumors last year, then again in early January that Liza was being courted for the show, but Liza originally hadn't planned to do the show.
Ugly Betty producers presented her with a great offer and a hilarious story and they kept coming back to her. She's going to be playing an outrageous drama teacher and it is going to be fun! Liza is excited to be playing another off-the-wall character like Lucille 2 on 'Arrested Development'."
Liza is set to start working on the show next week and continue through February 12th. As for her scheduled knee replacement surgery, that's been postponed until she's done filming.
Glad she's got her priorities in order.
Adds her rep the insider, "She's a professional and everyone is excited for her first day!"
Let's hope it goes well. We wouldn't bet on it though.

Agreed that 'Arrested' worked for her. TV comedy may be her best medium. 'Ugly' supposedly lets its guest stars write their own characters so let's hope that Liza comes up with a big hit.
Yes, she was fantastic on Arrested Development. Hoping she'll be in the film version, too.
It should be lots of fun to see her on the show….she has been through enough over the years (former ex from hell comes to mind) that she deserves to be more than HAPPY in 2010!

Liza was surprisingly good on Arrested Development and I'm sure she will do just as good a job on Ugly Betty.

I don't watch the show but I think Liza is a great choice! Bet the ratings go way up!

She will be wonderful for this show and bring a little mad cap lunacy to TV……TV lately has been so drab and dry……Liza will punch it up a bit….aren't we tired of the David Letterman knife in your back laugh or I'll beat it out of you humor?…..Yeah for 'Ugly……..finally something for the fans..

Um….this is a rumor. An untrue one down the the tiniest details, at that. Liza already had the surgery about a week ago and now she's recouperating. She's already back at home and reportedly in some pain, but there's so far no reason to believe this rumor. People keep spreading it around but her reps and assistant have BOTH debunked this one. Sorry to take the wind out of your sails.
