Toyota Recalls 2.3 Million Cars!

Lots of you Toyota owners may need to head over the dealership soon!
Toyota is recalling 2.3 million vehicles to correct sticking accelerator pedals. The recall includes:
2009-2010 RAV4
2009-2010 Corolla
2009-2010 Matrix
2005-2010 Avalon
2007-2010 Camry
2010 Highlander
2007-2010 Tundra
2008-2010 Sequoia
The pedal mechanism in these vehicles can become worn and sometimes stuck. This is the second recent recall by Toyota with the last one being related to pedals getting stuck because of insecure floor mats.

This news is months old. Next you'll be reporting Amelia Earhart is missing. Way to stay current douchebag.
I didn't know floor mats had self esteem issues
you must have not a "reverse" issue yet. enjoy the issue when it happens. look it up moron.
Don't care! I buy American.
04 corolla woop woop
actually, orange cream, the cars being recalled are the ones built in America. the ones from Japan have no issues.

Re: nixon666 – Bahahahahaha…emo cutter rugs
"insecure floor mats?"
what, are they finally letting their job get to them… man, i am SO SICK of everyone stepping on me all the time, but i guess i deserve it.
it's UNSECURED floor mats, dummies!
Yeah…we already knew about this. It's why when we bought a new car recently, we didn't buy any of the Toyota or Lexus which were affected by the accelerator issue, which REALLY sucks because the Lexus IS250 was sooooo gorgeous too! Hope they find out what caused this so it doesn't affect any future models.
yianna13: I wouldn't be surprised if that were true, which really sucks because the only reason our family buys foreign brand cars in the first place is to avoid problems with American-made crapola.
For the record, none of these cars have actually had this issue occur. Since the incident that happenned in California involving a lexus not being able to stop, which resulted in a couple of deaths, Toyota has stepped up to ensure this doesn't happen again by issuing a safety advisory. In short, they are reccomending that people not double up on floor mats (like that lexus did) and not to use after-market mats that don't fit properly, so that they are properly held in place and don't slide under the accelerator or brake peddle. Furthermore, I would like to re-state that Toyota has acknowledged this and is trying to resolve this problem before it becomes an issue. This is precisely why they remain #1 car company in the world.
lmao insecure floor mats?? i believe it's UNsecure
No offense but this was on the news in like sept. After a accident involving the mats. Killing a few people. Geez
linds26: still I'd rather not risk my family's life and wouldn't buy a car that was even rumoured to have a potentially serious issue like that. Also, that wasn't the only issue with the Lexus and Toyota recent models. Owners complained of many issues, including cheap easily chipping paint and hesitating transmission at low speeds among other other things. A car is a huge purchanse so I really looked into each model we considered purchasing. I was also not really happy to learn they were manufacturing over here now. As I said, we initially bought foreign model cars to AVOID buying crap made in America. My Dad's a mechanic. He would surely know that our brands are not the best and most reliable cars out there. The American brand cars have nice styling but poor reliability. In the end I'd take a boring-looking reliable car over something sexy-looking that left me with constant repair costs. After all, my bank account is not as big as Paris Hilton's! If American companies concentrated on making stuff that wasn't crap their own countrymen might actaally buy their stuff and they wouldn't be going out of business!
So….my Mother has an 07 Camry and she's been having this problem with her accelerator for years. When she called the dealer about the issue today, they told her to wait for the letter from Toyota as they have not yet been instructed on how to handle the issue. If you're going to tell the world you're recalling 2.3 million cars (Toyota nonetheless), you really should have a statement prepared and your dealerships should be aware of it so they can back you. Otherwise, you look like a bunch of fumbling idiots.
Re: azn_remixx – Yes it was in the news then but they just issued a recall so its in the news again !
For the record I love my AMERICAN made GM!! The last forgein made veheicle we bought still sits in my driveway where it sat more than being driven. It the biggest piece of crap I've ever owned! As for my GM its AMERICAN made wich keeps our people with jobs, Its far more comfortable, Ive had no problems unlike the other car we own and as for problems like this they won't happen for more than one reason. First because they dont use FLY-BY-WIRE-technology they use throttle linkage cables for the gas pedal which puts the control into the driver's feet. AS for GM also, they have the ultimate final defense which is ONSTAR, if ever there is an emergency they can send a satellite guided signal which overides all of the vehicle's computers and shuts the vehicle down immediately. With that said stop sending jobs to other countries and BUY AMERICAN and support our country and not someone elses!
GOOD
at least toyota is making a recall. my nissan sentra back 2002 was doing the same and nissan never done anything about it, also had 3 engins since it was such a lemon.
i love my toyota. always great service at that dealership and glad to see mine isn't in the recall list
Re: foxyroxy04 – the recalls from toyota are from vehicules MADE IN AMERICA. luckily there is a plant here in canada for us
the foreign ones weren't on the recall list either…..
Re: mlu007 – Yeah sure thats why they sell more cars then any other car manufacture on the planet….also they address their problems and solve them with great customer service…unlike GM! Enjoy your BMW that will be worth nothing in 10years while my 4Runner will still be worth 20G's
Re: foxyroxy04 – LOL…GM fanboy….Onstar is such garbage…a family came to the compound where i work cause GM called them and said they tracked there vehicle to this compound….sorry it was a police seizure across the city…so how was GM saying onstar told them the proper coordinates when it was WAYY OFF…another typical domestic car feature idea…that Japanese manufacture's will actually look into..AND MAKE WORK! Who wants to be traced by GPS 24/7 anyway? Insecure people I guess :S
Re: Brownin – LOL YEP…MY 4Runner is still made in Japan..and guess what..its never broken down or given me and problems….did I forget to say its got 200+ miles? I never see a GM product roll over 200…they all die out before 180!
Re: Hemi204 – i agree with all of what you said — toyota actually make recalls, the carpet issue i had with my sentra; was blocking the break pedal, almost lost my life because of it. nissan replace the carpet with the same one, that did the same thing! they never actually recalled most of the problems they had…. where as toyota, man, they never stop me from using my warranty, they even told me when they saw a little bit of rust on my wheels, informing me right away i could still put on warranty and done so.
love my rav4!!
Re: Brownin – Re: Hemi204 – Made in America or not their still a Japanese vehicle. And as for your family that tracked the car to where u were are u sure that is onstars fault or human stupidity? My luck with onstar has been great and I wasnt refering to tracking your vehicle anyways I was talking about the fact of being able to disable the engine. Im sure those japs will make it work better just like they made all these cars death traps. I'll stick with supporting the country I live in and the people who work for them !!!! And get it right im a a GM Fangirl! Proud owner of a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP and wouldn't trade it for any jap scrap!
Re: Hemi204 – Oh and I have seen more than one BM roll over 200K I owned one personally drove a 04 Chevy Impala from 60,000 miles til hitting a deer with it at 245,000 mile and it still ran strong never had one problem with it all that time. That car would have easily hit 300k. Bought a POS Nissian Sentra and the damn thing sat not running more than it ran biggest waste of money in my intire life!!!! Still have the POS cause no one wants it!
Damnit…i have a '10 Corolla. IT BETTER NOT KILL US!!! =/
Re: Honk_If_You_Hate_Perez – Your comment made me laugh, and as soon as I read your name a car on my street's alarm went off, so I laughed again.
Re: foxyroxy04 – too bad one lil fender bender will write your love & enjoy off….I don't buy Domestic for the pure fact they are worth nothing…for obvious reasons…your GTP is worth what? 8G's ? One accident will have that repair bill over the actual cash value ofthe vehicle…so i'll stick to my jap crap..cause it works…and if or when an accident happens..I know my insurance company will be fixing my ride.
To set the record straight, these are the facts. First of all, Toyota has narrowed the problem down to a specific brand of pedal, in which only some of the vehicles in question are equipped with. Secondly, out of this so-called 2.3million cras recalled, only 4 of them had actually been affected by this problem, and no injuries occurred. Lastly Toyota should be commended for voluntarily letting the public no that there is a problem before any damages could occur. Most other car companies have existing problems that people don't even hear about because they usually end up in court before an official recall is made. Furthermore, this same brand of peddle in question is also used on about 50 other vehicles, including models by Ford, Hyundai, Mazda, and GM to name a few. This is a North American company that distributed this peddle, and is not a toyota part, they merely built them for certain Toyota models. Toyota is willingly taking a hit in their revenue to maintain public saftey. They are being criticized right now, because they are the first company to come forward and acknowledge this potential problem.
Re: Hemi204 – Actually my GTP is worth over 12k!!!!! Stock and that not with the aftermarket parts.
Re: Hemi204 – and my dislike did not come from a fenderbender just the fact it was a piece!
