Yesterday, on Emeril Live (foodtv channel) Elisabeth Withers was on his show. I had never heard of her. She's in 'The Color Purple'.
BIG WOW! She's as wonderful as the incomparable, Gladys Knight and The Pips…my favorite act from the era of my youth.

She may have a 'west indies' accent, but what accent is she supposed to have then? A Dutch English accent? There is no standard accent when it comes to learning English (or any other language). It's common knowledge that when you learn a second language, you copy the accent of the people who teach you. Or television, radio,… She chose that one. Get over it.
