Cheating In China!

| Filed under: Wacky, Tacky & TrueZportz

Cheaters never prosper!

30 runners competing in a Chinese marathon in Xiamen were disqualified after it was revealed that they had cheated!

Some of the runners hired impostors to run the race for them while others used vehicles for part of the race or gave their time recording chip to faster runners!

Turns out that a big chunk of the cheaters really wanted to get a good time because they stood to get extra points to their score for the highly-competitive Chinese university entrance exams.

Shame, shame!

    Clever… but wrong

The chinese athletes are cheaters point final. During the last summer olympics some of the gymnasts were underage and there have been others examples in the past also.

and no one here has EVER cheated. yes, cheating is wrong. But, I kind of understand if it means getting into a college there. It is not like here, your life is mapped out by the communist there and any chance to get ahead, I can understand. BUT, once caught, the punishments are probably going to be severe. unlike here, where you are just kicked out or you lose you scholarship.

Cheating is a major part of the culture in China, it's only frowned upon when they do it to each other, but as a Country they are taught to cheat when it comes to everything else… I've worked with native Chinese people for many years… they are taught to get ahead by any means necessary including cheating…

I could understand 1 person hiring another person that looks like them to take their place, but 30 people finding impersonator….what's that saying again…they all look a like or something….

Um the Chinese people AS A CULTURE are huge cheaters. They cheat in sports, in academia, they put melmaine in the milk that is fed to babies…all to make a buck. They are known to be HUGE CHEATERS the world over. This is what happens with overpopulation.

Re: take the pickle out – I'm in Canada and I know exactly what you mean. I'm here to tell you it's NOT honest. I cannot tell you how many Chinese cheaters I have been unfortunate enough to experience. They ALL cheat if the opportunity presents itself. And they don't even feel bad about it. Why? Because it's part of their culture.

OMG! seriously is this a surprise to anyone? I have so many asian friends and they have all done something similar to this in school! their strategy it to always be the mousy quiet kids that no one ever notices. when finals or big exams roll around they often pay other asians to take them for them! it is so crazy but they are so hardcore about school that they will do anything to get ahead!

    Hi guys,

I'm a Xiamen university student though I'm a westerner, when reading this I have to react because this article makes too much of a story, starting with its title "Cheating In China!". Then the reactions are understandably abusing too.

The Xiamen marathon has professionals from all over the world, they are athletes and are monitored tightly as in any official world competition. But then there are the general public and obviously several persons cheated, including foreigners that I know.

But well that's the public, it's like if because some people are reported stealing in Wallmart, then other countries would flag Americans as thefts, that would make no sense.

So it is really unfair to blame 1/5 of the planet as being cheaters just because of a so minor story. But well that's a gossip website, so I guess here you are seeking juicy "news", not accurate picture of another culture.
