She played Fiona (Fee) Cleary in The Thorn Birds–Meggie's mother. She was a class act and won an Emmy for her role in The Thorn Birds. (One of the greatest mini series to this day.) Rachel Ward once said it was Jean Simmons who encouraged her to date Bryan Brown; who was also in The Thorn Birds and played Meggie's husband, Luke o' Neil. They are still married to this day, and we all know now that handsome great actor Richard Chamberlain was probably, in real life, more interested in bedding Bryan Brown than Rachel Ward.

What a great beauty shewas. A mixture of Vivien Leigh and Elizabeth Taylor, only better. RIP dear Jean Simmons

And we lost Jennifer Jones a couple weeks ago. Yeah she was married to Robert Walker and the producer who made Gone With The Wind. I saw that one no where. TCM has all these fine women on everyday of the week.
Mario I wish you could have gave a shout to Luise Rainer who played Olan
in the Good Earth she is 100 years and and still alive! Some of the beauty
queens from yesterday are still with us. Just sayin..

She was a beautiful woman and lovely actress. She also had something today's stars don't have — class!
