$58 Million!!! Hope For Haiti Now A Massive Success!

Friday night's Hope for Haiti Now telethon earned a record-breaking amount of donations for the earthquake relief effort in Haiti!
Although the numbers are rough, the star-studded telethon raised a reported $58 million on Friday night!!!!!
And you can expect that number to grow exponentially once the figures are in from the iTunes store - the Hope for Haiti Now album, a soundtrack of the night's performances, was #1 in 18 different countries on Saturday!
Bravo.
Every little bit helps!

GOOD!
Ummm Germany raised a good 20 million and we have fewer people living in this country. The netherland have like 18 million people and they raised 40 million…..so in comparison the USA didnt give a lot.
I agree with the people who believe america should start helping it's own. It's very sad what happened in Haiti, but they seem to be getting alot of help.
Meanwhile america is drowning in massive debt with people starving and dying out in the streets from diseases without health insurance.
During the christmas holiday my parents came back from a nice little town in San Diego and asked me to distribute some packages I put together for the homeless over there. They counted about eleven elderly homeless people sitting on the sidewalk in the pouring rain. The way they described it was heartbreaking. It shocked me though because san diego is considered a pretty nice county, or at least is in my opinion.
Re: Dutchie81 – Ain't that funny, and then they say we're greedy! Ha!
only $58 million?
OMG
The netherlands where i live raised 41 million and the goverment put 41 million on it aswell, so we raised 83 million in total, we're a small country with 17 million people living here. so america, you can do better
How many citizen does America have? Here in the Netherlands we have about 17M.. We collected 41M euros(!) wich was dubbeled by our government.. So we collected 82M euros for Haiti…. I don't understand why we have so much more then you do…
58 MILLION IS NOT SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF! WE RAISED 83 MILLION HERE IN HOLLAND. AND WE'RE ONLY WITH 16 MILLION PEOPLE
ASSHOLE
Re: chelsuz – In the Netherlands it was one telethon as well…
LOSERS
The Netherlands gave 83 million euro, and the euro is more worth than the dollar.. And our government doubled the money, so this little country gave more money than the whole US??? That's embarrasing for the US..
Wow.. 8 times about the Netherlands.. US shame on you!!! :O
Re: Bucks – What the hell is that suppose to mean :S there are not a lot of sheep out here en we don't do anything with it.. :S That's sick..
So do you ever been in the Netherlands? Not.. So don't speak about it!! We're better off without the people who talk about our country like that..
I heard Madonna donated $1.
What bothers me so much, is that through the telethon these celebs asked for other people to help, which don't get me wrong is a good thing. This money is came from a lot of people, who gave their last extras in. But, with respect to the exception, these stars could put this money together from they pocket instead of asking others. They could put this money to THEIR donation and send it all.
Re: PreyToYou – AMEN!!!!
Re: Marcintheskies – i donated BEFORE the telethon.
-
i want to know what the numbers were PRIOR to the telethon.
-
i want to help, but sorry, i'm not donating twice.
Why is this turning into some "which country donated the most" contest? What a petty thing to argue about. We are all working towards the same goal, people!
ahhhh recession!!! What about the us?
Um, i think they have enough money by now. Why dont we keep ours and help us!
Doesn't make a damn bit of difference. Anyone remember Katrina, or the 911 fund? Most, if not all, of that money will be embezzled and disappear with no record of where it went. Just like always.
just please dont bring em to our country!
Re: Bucks – you're really dumb aren't you?
People in America are just so weird.. They only think about themselves! "Everybody loves America, we are the best country`.. Wel hell no! You suck at all kind of important stuff, like your health program!
Please, get real and don´t be so ignorant!
America sucks, big time
Ok, people from the Netherlands, stop talking about how much we raised! Whohoo, but enough already. It always surprises me how much we raise during these telethons, but so does the amount they raise every year on Red Nose Day in the UK as well. As far as I know, the money isn't just handed over to the (corrupt) government but organisations like the Red Cross are handling it, so hopefully all the money will be spend well.
all this is such fake bullshit. I can't stand it. They probably have more money now then they started with–that is, if they even get this money. I can't stand all you fucktards that say, "oh good for Haiti, lets come together and help them out" you're just part of another trend and not because you actually care whats happening to them. and I can guarantee if your own family was in the same kind of need you wouldn't do a damn thing.
Re: hateliars – SNAP!
This is fucking lame. The US have 308, 5 million inhabitants, who raised 58 million $ together for Haiti.
The Netherlands have 16, 5 million inhabitants (about 1/20 of the US) and they raised…117, 5 million $!
Or to put it another way: each American donated less than 19 dollar cents to Haiti, while each Dutch man donated 7 dollar and 12 cents.
And they call the Dutch cheapskates? Ha.
These "celebrities" could have each donated $2 million a piece, without even missing it, but instead they beg money from the 99% of us that are living paycheck to paycheck.
sorry, but Julia Roberts is not that talented. U think Monique studied acting? She was a stand up comic. Acting is just not that difficult.
These celebs have multiple homes and cars, while people in America are without jobs.
Some actors make $20 million for work on a 3month movie. It is ridiculous how they are so overpaid. I say to tax them 90% over their first million.
That would solve problems here and around the world.
F them all
Re: Rrichboy –
Go you! I fully agree. It's not charity when they are begging from those of us w have nothing to give to make themselves feel better and look good.
If they TRULY CARED they would have just shut up and quietly given out of their own pockets.
I really hope none of these funds are misappropriated and it all actually gets used to rebuild the country. I wish we could pour that much money into schools and services here in the States…
