      A little deceiving. They hired an outside company to do their product demos and that new company will hire most of those 10,000 people back.

      The closed down all the stores here in Ontario, also they pay you shit at Wally nuts, my cousin is one of the floor walkers there and he gets payed shit.

      I'm not surprised. Unless you have a family of 12, very few items were actually cheaper there.
      Having to go several places to shop is inconvenient.
      Also, as soon as I found a good deal on some product, they would soon stop carrying it.

      They opened one in Plymouth, MA about 1/2 a year after BJ's went in two miles away. They are now closed and did not tell the employee's they were booted. At least I got my membership fee back after using it a year.

      My Mom works for Sam's and from what she hears the company that will be doing the demos now already has their own staff. So im thinking that the people that were laid off will have to apply to work with this company if they want to keep demo-ing. It sucks because my Mom used to be a Demo Lady and a lot of those women were like family to her and now they are out of work. : (

      Aren't you all just loving "Change", what a jackass President, double digit unemployment and just today released a 40% drop in home sales in December, the biggest drop in 40 years! and what is the Jackass's answer, more taxes, and a trillion dollar health care program.

      That really sucks when Walmart is firing people. That's like the biggest employer around here.

      Yeah Walmart is the same. We replaced our demo ladies with the Bright Ideas people. Probably hiring from outside so they don't take our profits lol. I don't know, but at our morning meetings they always boast about how amazing sales are, yet we know the impending doom of layoffs are lurking. :/

      This is directly the fault of Messiah Hussein Dumbama and his FAILED economic recovery stimulus. Messiah Dumbama has bankrupted this country and now the Dumbocrates are bailing like rats on a sinking ship!

      When Sams closed down in Canada last year thousands lost jobs, members lost their money, however almost all of the Walmarts were converted to Superstores requiring more staff.

      Re: Lurchetta – I agree. I always spend too much money at the 'volume discount' store. That place isn't for a one person household. Even if I stick everything in the freezer, it's always too much. I could use a cereal box from there to soak my feet.

      the laid off demo team associates are NOT being hired by staff events, they have the OPTION to apply. but there is no guarantee of employment. outside marketing reps lost their jobs too and that isn't going to another company. they're just SOL.

      Obama did this? Your kidding right. It's the right wing and their George W. Bush push for de-regulation. You can't keep shipping jobs overseas and downsizing everyone and then expect us all to keep stocking up on every item we see. Face it, the Republicans and some Dems got us into this depression. Wish we had an FDR to get us out. Obama is better than we would have had right now with that wack job McCain.
