The Oldie Writers Get Their Pay!
Who knew ageism was a crime in the entertainment industry???
A number of TV networks, production companies and talent agencies will be paying over a hundred over-the-hill TV writers a total settlement sum of $70 million due to age discrimination!
The suit was filed against all the big networks (ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC) and agencies (William Morris Endeavor, Gersh, UTA, CAA) by 165 television writers over the age of 40 who felt they were being discriminated against due to their older age.
The settlement $$$$$ is said to be going to attorney and legal fees, a fund to award grands to writers and "to study ways to supplement pensions and improve medical coverage."
Good for them!

Good for them! Age discrimination to the extreme is an issue across many industries these days. Employers don't want to pay for experience and the quality that comes with that anymore. Our standards have gone to new lows.

The feeling was that they weren't treated very well. This is a victory for them all.
Actually, part of the money will pay for grants and loans to writers, not "grands".
Mario's snide comments about people over the age of 30 reveals a young gay man's worst fear: the day when he is too old to fall back on his youth and his looks and has to face the fact that our bodies ultimately betray us.
