Doesn't look like it!

Although last week was a close call, this weekend marks the 6th weekend in a row Avatar has been #1 at the box office!!

With $552.7 million in ticket sales, the 3D flick is only $50 million short of topping director James Cameron's record-holding highest-grossing film in US history, Titanic ($600.8 mil).

Cameron's got the midas touch!

      This mediocre movie was seriously overrated. It's amazing how susceptible people are to hype, and how they will readily take on the opinion that is force fed to them by PR agendas, paid (sponsored) reviewers and the Hollywood propaganda machine.
       
      Avatar = Dances With Wolves meets Pocohontas in space, nothing more. I don't care how amazing the CGI allegedly was (I wasn't impressed with it or the 3D) – a movie with such a derivative/clichéd plot, weak script/subtext, hackneyed dialogue and banal acting is definitely not deserving of the awards and accolades it is unjustifiably receiving, let alone deserving of highest grossing film ever.
       
      It just goes to show, people really are that fucking stupid…

      You have to take inflation into account. Titanic is still much bigger than Avatar (plus Avatar is really not that good a movie).

      I hated that movie, didn't get the hype. I actually walked out after a little over an hour into it. No story really and the 3D was making me ill.

      I've seen this movie in three formats - 2-D, 3-D, and 3-D IMAX. I just love it. IMAX was the best though. I think I've fallen in love with the Navi. I just wish they were real and Pandora was real. Sure, the plot in this movie has been told many times before, but the world of Pandora is something you should see. Unbelievable.

      Avatar is getting tons of repeat viewing from people who somehow wish there was a planet named Pandora and are crazy enough to identify with cartoon characters. And Cameron is rolling in dough.

      With all due respect…

      …around $70-$80 MIL for an opening weekend on a movie of THIS scale seems way too low. The biggest reason for the soft opening is I'm sure the snow storms on the east coast. People couldn't go anywhere! If that wasn't a factor those numbers would have been way soft. Maybe not bomb but definitely soft.

      Now we see that the numbers have been great. Anyone could have easily assumed it wouldn't do well after it's initial weekend. Lay off the guy. He made a prediction and he was wrong. He's a blogger - not a fucking psychic. If you don't like him, think he's a loser, hate his guts (or whatever girly 15 year old response you have) then don't visit. You're just helping his numbers you tards.

      1. I can't make an informed, unbiased comment without actually seeing the movie, now can I? Of course that comes at the unavoidable expense of lining the pockets of those who don't deserve my hard earned coin.
      2. As much as I wish I could, it's impossible for me to experience the 3D IMAX effect in my own home.
