Climb Avatar Mountain!

wenn2693902avatar__opt11__opt11__opt11__opt1.jpg

From that nation that pulled the flick from theaters comes Avatar Hallelujah Mountain.

A mountain range in China, formerly known as the Southern Sky Column, had it's name officially changed yesterday as the government claims it inspired James Cameron's Avatar's scenic Hallelujah Mountains.

Of course, to really bank on the name change, two Avatar-themed tours are already available for tourists.

Fantastic!

Wow that seems pretty hypocritical of the Chinese they don't show the movie than will do a theme park. Hope that James Cameron does something since they are banking on his franchise

      Re: newenham

      My info is wrong?

      This is the article, dude:

It doesn't matter that Avatar has pulled in over US$1 billion worldwide and is currently one of the most successful movie of all time in China, Chinese officials think the cinemas there should pay homage to Chinese-themed movies.

With that in mind, the nation's state-run movie distributor China Film Group has yanked the James Cameron movie off over 1,000 of its screens and replaced it with Chow Yun-Fat's biography of philosopher, Confucius.

According to reports from Hong Kong's Apple Daily the move to remove the award-winning movie from most of its cinemas was because officials believed that the Western film was taking a sizable chunk of money that should be going towards Chinese movies.

      Just Google it, dude.
      Oh that's right.
      You don't Google.
      You Baidu!

Not sure what you are on about Sashaqueenie but I saw it last night in Shanghai and it was playing at other cinemas also. You can quote media reports out of HK all you like but its fact what I saw
As for Google.Still have it.You are believing everything you read in the media

The 3D cinemas charge more, so based on earnings Avatar may be up there. However, in actual numbers of viewers, Avatar is still behind a lot of films. Cameron is far from being the king of the world, he did not appear in the ten best directors of all time. That included names like Hitchcock,Kubrik, Truffaut, Kurosawa,Spielberg, and others.
