Tens of Millions Tune In To Hope For Haiti Telethon!

Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief drew a cumulative audience of over 83 million viewers!
Online the telethon garnered 1.9 million video streams while it broadcasted live and 5.8 million total streams in replays after it aired.
The Hope for Haiti Now iPhone app which gave users the ability to watch the telethon live on their phones was downloaded over 100,000 times and Hope for Haiti Now was the most Tweeted topic of the weekend receiving more than 1 million Tweets about the telethon just on Friday night!
The telethon raised more than $61 million for the Haiti earthquake relief effort.

We raised more then 80 million in the Netherlands and we only had 5 million vieuwers!
i'm sure by now they raised a billion dollars for Haiti…now can we move on to something else?like maybe helping the poor kids in the US!

$61 million is pathetic… Holland raised €41.5 million in one night which was doubled by the government.
Then again, US soldiers have already been "helpful" enough in Haiti.

I don't think it should matter how much money was raised. It's not a competition between countries of who raised more (even though this was GLOBAL) I think all that matters is that people are helping.
@irsmrt: u are such a stupid idiot. Europe helped much more until yet, more military, more doctors, more money. Over 40 Millions of € from one telethon in the Netherlands, more than 90 millions € from Germany - which means more than 183 million DOLLAR. HA! Both countries smaller than USA and the european help was much faster in Haiti than YOURS. What a shame for the "world saver" USA…

So the big question now is, will all of this money actually get to Haiti? I truly hope history proves us wrong and these people get the help/resources they desperately need…and not have it stolen away by corrupted officials and others.

I just am stunned that a BIG country like the U.S.of A cannot seem to collect more money than a tiny country likewe did in the Netherlands…..we alone collected about a 100 million dollars for Haiti!!! Come on America, you can do way better than this!!!!!!
Hey assholes in the Netherlands - Why do Haitians deserve any more of our money. The U.S. has given them $2.7 Billion dollars in the past 10 years, $2.7 Billion of taxpayer monies. For what? It does absolutely no good to give them money. For $2.7 Billion they could have built at least one building not made out of mud. Haiti is a wasteland and it is a waste to give them anything…let the carribian islands help their neighbor out, we have our own problems in our own borders to address. Better yet, let these court jesters in hollywood drain their personal bank accounts first then I will think about it. Canada has a population of only 30 million compared to the 300 million in the US. Yet in Canada we gave more than 20 million $ in 2 separate telethons. I was surprised at the little amount given by the supposedly wealthiest nation in the world. Greed, racism, could explain the poor performance. Shame on you USA.
